'Easy to get to but difficult to leave' is how the folk who own Parke Farm Camping describe the place – have a quick look at a map and the site pics and you'll see exactly where they're coming from. Sandy beaches for swimmers, surfers and coast path ramblers are within a few miles of this pretty Pembrokeshire site – which, by the way, is located within the gorgeous surrounds of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. For town times, historic Pembroke – where there's a railway station, supermarket, pubs and other amenities – is 10 minutes away by car. Those keen on surveying the local seascapes will probably be pleased to know that most of the 186 miles of Pembrokeshire’s coast path are within a similarly accessible distance. Life on site is all quite laidback – families and dogs are welcome (although there's an adults-only area that you can request if you'd prefer a bit of quiet time with your beloved), and there's no problem lighting up firepits and barbecues. Various amenities are on hand to help life run smoothly, including free wifi, a washing-up area, showers and toilets, and there's plenty of space around the place to relax and take in the fresh air. Please note that some sections of the local coast path may be closed when the local MOD firing range is in use. Usually, this is outside of bank holidays, school holidays and weekends, but check online in advance if you want to be sure of access.

Em va agradar This is a really lovely family site. The pitches are spacious and separated by long grass which makes them feel more private. Charles kindly gave us a large double pitch for us and our 3 adult children and we were in Parke West field, which I think was the best field as we couldn't see the army barracks. Although we could still hear the shouting, whistling and trumpeting, but this was quite entertaining. Also a drone often flew overhead - was this the army spying on us?! Of more interest were the bats who swooped low over our heads every evening and the crickets that sang in the long grass - and occasionally came in the tent.
Facilities here are very good - a toilet block in each field plus wet room showers in the main field - hot showers and not too busy.
Plus a handy shop on site.
Great location for the coast path and many lovely beaches - we particularly liked Church Doors and Skrinkle Haven, but Freshwater West is nearer. Nearest is Broadhaven - we walked from there to Barafundle, a good walk on a cloudy day.
Loved the walk from Freshwater to Angle and walked up to the Green Bridge of Wales on the Sunday - this is through the firing range so not always open.

No em va agradar Not much - only that all the sinks are on the cistern of the toilet so not ideal for washing or cleaning teeth, but you get used to it!

Em va agradar The owner was lovely and very helpful when we thought we were going to be late and showed us around when we got there. Well stocked shop. Good clean facilities. Very child friendly with a relaxed atmosphere. Good sized pitches that are beautifully maintained. Great social atmosphere with free tea and coffee in the morning in a lovely seating area.

Em va agradar Bien situé, l’emplacement est intime grâce aux hautes herbes, peu bruyant, café ou thé offert le matin, une petite supérette, accueil très agréable, sanitaires très propres. Le prix était correct.

Em va agradar Lovely campsite, we especially liked how they have used wild grass to seperate pitches! Friendly welcome and easy check in, great facilities including free WiFi and tea and coffee from 7am.

Em va agradar Lovely location and beautiful campsite. Most is left as long grass meadow with the pitches cut into it so it gives a sense of wildness and privacy. Water tap at the pitch was helpful. Facilities are good - four wet room showers plus plenty of toilets which were cleaned daily. Free WiFi and tea and coffee are a bonus. Plenty of birdlife to spot from the site. If you get onto the top field (Parke West) then you get both morning and evening sun. Good general recycling facilities.

No em va agradar Watch out for the horse flies! Some pitches on some fields get shaded quickly in the evening so if sundowners are your thing - ask for Parke West. No food waste recycling.

Llocs d'interès

Tenby (25 minutes' drive), a firm favourite for beachgoing folk, is within easy reach, but quieter, lesser-known sands like Broadhaven South beach (10 minutes) should also be on the itinerary – at this latter spot there's ample opportunity for swimming and sunbathing, or for more active times like canoeing and angling. If you can pull yourself away from the coast for a couple of hours, the rewards are rich indeed. Head for freshwater frolics at Bosherston lily ponds (five minutes' drive), a spectacular National Trust-managed stretch of land with dunes, footpaths and pools where otters dwell. While you're likely to see a lot of wildlife while strolling around, spotting more exotic critters might require a trip to Manor House Wildlife Park (20 minutes). Also inland is Lamphey Bishop's Palace (15 minutes), a ruined ecclesiastical mansion where prelates of yore lived in sumptuous surrounds. And as you'll gather while driving around, historic buildings aren't in short supply around here. Also top of the list are Pembroke Castle (10 minutes), where you can admire tall turrets while cruising by in a rowing boat, and Manorbier Castle (25 minutes), a Norman landmark notable for its gardens, dovecote and watermill.
