  • Quiet site on a family smallholding with views, well off the main road
  • Saundersfoot and Tenby beaches within 25 minutes' drive
  • Donkeys, alpacas, geese, pygmy goats and ponies on site to meet
The splendid parts of Pembrokeshire are well documented: gorgeous beaches, fab coastal walking, top theme parks and ancient castles… Hole yourselves up for hols at Hideaway Escapes, a mile outside of the market town of Narberth, to be well set for easy access to all the above. If you're an animal enthusiast, you'll be enthusiastic about this lush site too: Hideaway has horses, Shetland ponies, alpacas, geese, pygmy goats, donkeys and Mable the friendly pig to meet, as well as the tiny chipmunk who loves to show off… come armed with nuts to see how much. Hideaway is in a cunningly convenient spot, centrally placed for visiting attractions all over the county – it's 15 minutes' drive to the nearest beach at Amroth; 20 to the beaches of Pendine and Saundersfoot; 25 to Tenby, and half an hour to the surfers’ faves of Broad Haven and Newgale. The area's top theme parks are both about 15 minutes’ drive away, or you could take a half-hour hike to Narberth Castle to delve into local history instead. And after all that lot? There’s plenty of space in the accommodation field for kids to let off steam running about; grownups, meanwhile, can light up a barbie for an evening of bangers and beer while the stars come out overhead. Essential supplies are available in the honesty shop. Creature comforts include two washing-up areas with hot water and a toilet block with hot showers. There's good news for dog owners here too: friendly hounds are welcome on site and have been provided with their own washing area for the hosing down of mucky pups (less welcome news for the dogs themselves, perhaps…)

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked Animals, shop, location, fire pits with wood etc, nice staff.level pitches. Well stocked shop. Felt safe for children to run around.

Disliked Difficult to get water temp right. Went cold when in use or would not warm up. Light didn't come on in the wash room. Someone did take my ice wall for my cool bag. Not your fault but it was an expensive one.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked One of the nicest sites we’ve ever been to. Owners were friendly and so helpful especially when we had a problem with a burst airbeam, went the extra mile trying to help. Animals around the site were amazing, loved meeting Dave the tortoise, goats, donkeys, Guinea Pigs and Mabel the pig! Facilities were clean and the honesty shop had everything you could need. Easy to get to site just off the A40 (very narrow lane down to site tho) 5 minute drive from Narbeth and near the coast for Saundersfoot, Tenby etc. Will definitely be back

Disliked Nithing

Liked Hideaway escapes was our favourite site so far. The family who run the farm were very friendly and approachable. We had a lovely warm welcome, and the rubber duck treasure hunt set for our little boys was throughly enjoyed by all.
We stayed at the wood love yurt which was very Cosey and had everything we needed.
My little boys loved running around and checking up on the animals. Omlette the emu was their absolute favourite. We will definitely be returning guests.

Disliked Leaving to go home. Would’ve loved to do more than one night.

Bluebell Woodland electric optional forest floor tent pitch (secluded)

Liked The privacy and spaciousness of the pitches. The toilets and showers were very clean.

Disliked The lights in the toilets and showers didn't provide much light. The track to the campsite is full of big pot holes.

Bluebell Woodland electric optional forest floor tent pitch (secluded)

Liked We booked the bluebell woodland pitch and it was incredibly spacious. We loved the fire pit and it comes with a tripod BBQ to cook over the fire. The bench was handy too. The animals there are well cared for and friendly. The honesty shop is useful selling logs and other essentials. We were already booking our next visit before we had even left.

Disliked Was slightly disappointed to find no gazebo on the woodland pitch as it is advertised on the photos when booking.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Had a lovely time on the campsite. It had a really family friendly feel and the owners have gone out of their way to make it accessible to first-time campers and families. There are fridges and freezers available to use, included in the camping cost. There's no charge for the showers. There's a duck hunt, a playground and animals all on site so plenty to keep the kids entertained. It felt like a lovely place just to sit around and hang out.
There was an incident with another camper (drunk and loud) and the staff dealt with it really quickly and decisively and were really communicative as well, despite it being past 9pm.
An excellent place, and I'd recommend it for people like us who are just learning how to go camping. Very supportive.

Disliked Nothing.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked Lesley (the owner) was amazing, she made us feel so welcome and went out of her way to ensure we had a great holiday. The site is well maintained and eco friendly with composting toilets and solar uses where possible. There are lovely views over the Welsh hills and woodland full of wildlife. The domestic animals are friendly and very entertaining and most are very happy to fed treats. Some of the animals are very familiar to us Brits while others are a little more exotic, which adds to the charm of Hideaway Escapes. There is a well stocked onsite shop with all the essentials and treats for the animals. The local town is also a lovely place to spend time. It is close to the site with plenty of pubs a pretty good chip shop and an excellent butchers.
All in all a lovely holiday and we will be returning in the future.
