Hideaway Escapes: Aerial view of the spacious site

General

  • Quiet site on a family smallholding with views, well off the main road
  • Saundersfoot and Tenby beaches within 25 minutes' drive
  • Donkeys, alpacas, geese, pygmy goats and ponies on site to meet

The splendid parts of Pembrokeshire are well documented: gorgeous beaches, fab coastal walking, top theme parks and ancient castles… Hole yourselves up for hols at Hideaway Escapes, a mile outside of the market town of Narberth, to be well set for easy access to all the above.

If you're an animal enthusiast, you'll be enthusiastic about this lush site too: Hideaway has horses, Shetland ponies, alpacas, geese, pygmy goats, donkeys and Mable the friendly pig to meet, as well as the tiny chipmunk who loves to show off… come armed with nuts to see how much.

Hideaway is in a cunningly convenient spot, centrally placed for visiting attractions all over the county – it's 15 minutes' drive to the nearest beach at Amroth; 20 to the beaches of Pendine and Saundersfoot; 25 to Tenby, and half an hour to the surfers’ faves of Broad Haven and Newgale. The area's top theme parks are both about 15 minutes’ drive away, or you could take a half-hour hike to Narberth Castle to delve into local history instead.

And after all that lot? There’s plenty of space in the accommodation field for kids to let off steam running about; grownups, meanwhile, can light up a barbie for an evening of bangers and beer while the stars come out overhead. Essential supplies are available in the honesty shop.

Creature comforts include a laundry facility, a washing-up area with hot water and a toilet block with hot showers. There's good news for dog owners here too: friendly hounds are welcome on site and have been provided with their own washing area for the hosing down of mucky pups (less welcome news for the dogs themselves, perhaps…)

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

If making a fire, the fuel, logs and coal have to be purchased on site.

    We loved everything!
We booked this as a last minute stay and we were very happy.
The kids loved the play area, and the fact that it was in the middle of the field meant that I could see them easily from the tent.
The sheep, donkeys, Shetland pony and alpacas all around the camping field were so lovely, the kids really enjoyed smoothing them over the fence. We loved the turtles, goats, pigs, geese and hens on the other side too!
The facilities were fantastic, the honesty shop was a real help when I realised I’d forgotten the toothbrushes!
Tea and coffee making facilities were brilliant too. 3 fridges to store things in which was useful. We rented a fire pit, we bought logs and a starter pack from the site.
Everything was clean and tidy and the owners were really friendly and helpful.
    We will definitely be back!

We liked how family orientated the site is, everything is within very close distance on site for toilets, showers, washing up facilities, and the honesty shop. The pitches were very generous with a picnic bench for each pitch. The use of a fridge and freezer was very handy. The play area and honesty shop was a hit with our 3 children and stocked the essentials we may have forgotten as well as treats. We enjoyed the fire pit hire as it meant we could toast marshmallows and enjoy a bit of what wild camping would be like but with the luxury of hot water/showers and clean toilets.
This place was a hit with us all as a family and we can't wait to return. The staff were always on hand to help with any problems.

    Disliked:

Only thing we found were that in one of the shower rooms(purple wall) the lock didn't work on the door, so you had to trust people to realise that the curtains shut meant that it was in use.

    Awesome camp site!
Friendly family run. Camp site. Loads of well looked after animals, the pigs and donkeys are our favs!
Friendly helpful staff! Always around for a chat or to recommend somewhere to visit I. The local area.
Small site so all the kids played together was lovely! Playground was great and lots of room to fly kits and play games!
We had a tent a tent and was amazing! Log burner inside so was toasty warm always.
Bbq/log burners available to rent at a good price, big bags of logs for the log burners too!
Honesty shop is a great asset to the site! Good incentive for the kids to get some sweets!

    Disliked:

Didn’t dislike anything, the facilities could do with being checked morning and night especially in the wet weather as can get dirty quickly however campers was helpful and all tried to keep clean in the muddy rainy weather :)

Everything! The site was beautiful. Had a lovely little park for our young kids and a dog field to walk our puppy. The showers were amazing and I loved the honesty shop. It also has communal fridge and freezer access which is brilliant. They also have all the animals for you to see and some you can feed

Friendly, family ran site, great for the kids. Has a range of farm animals and a park in the middle of the site for the children.
The honesty shop and use of the fridge was very useful and made a big difference to our stay.
The site is also in a great location, quiet and tranquil yet close to the surrounding attractions.

    Disliked:

The only snag was the cobwebs and dead spiders in the shower. Maybe a morning check/clean could remedy this.

We loved everything about our stay. The owner and manager are really welcoming and helpful. The facilities are clean and comfortable and because it's quite a small site you don't have to queue. The honesty shop is well stocked and reasonably priced. The camping field is literally surrounded by animals which our daughter loved and she spent most of her time with the donkeys and shetland pony. Narberth is only a few minutes drive away with plenty of lovely shops, restaurants and takeaways.
