Hideaway Escapes: Aerial view of the spacious site

General

  • Quiet site on a family smallholding with views, well off the main road
  • Saundersfoot and Tenby beaches within 25 minutes' drive
  • Donkeys, alpacas, geese, pygmy goats and ponies on site to meet

The splendid parts of Pembrokeshire are well documented: gorgeous beaches, fab coastal walking, top theme parks and ancient castles… Hole yourselves up for hols at Hideaway Escapes, a mile outside of the market town of Narberth, to be well set for easy access to all the above.

If you're an animal enthusiast, you'll be enthusiastic about this lush site too: Hideaway has horses, Shetland ponies, alpacas, geese, pygmy goats, donkeys and Mable the friendly pig to meet, as well as the tiny chipmunk who loves to show off… come armed with nuts to see how much.

Hideaway is in a cunningly convenient spot, centrally placed for visiting attractions all over the county – it's 15 minutes' drive to the nearest beach at Amroth; 20 to the beaches of Pendine and Saundersfoot; 25 to Tenby, and half an hour to the surfers’ faves of Broad Haven and Newgale. The area's top theme parks are both about 15 minutes’ drive away, or you could take a half-hour hike to Narberth Castle to delve into local history instead.

And after all that lot? There’s plenty of space in the accommodation field for kids to let off steam running about; grownups, meanwhile, can light up a barbie for an evening of bangers and beer while the stars come out overhead. Essential supplies are available in the honesty shop.

Creature comforts include a laundry facility, a washing-up area with hot water and a toilet block with hot showers. There's good news for dog owners here too: friendly hounds are welcome on site and have been provided with their own washing area for the hosing down of mucky pups (less welcome news for the dogs themselves, perhaps…)

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

The park does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Breed-specific legislation (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Dogs are not allowed in the on-site accommodations.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

If making a fire, the fuel, logs and coal have to be purchased on site.

Please note that access to site is via a bumpy track that is not suitable for low-profile cars.

Nice campsite with variety of animals for younger children (<10yrs). Easy to find from the road and good location between Carmarthen to Tenby. Variety of quirky outdoor buildings for WC, showers (v clean) and wash up facilities. Nice and well-stocked honesty shop from marshmallows to camping gear, drinks and ice creams! We stayed on the bluebell site complete with picnic bench and tent style awning with barbecue area with griddle and log seating, lots of space with babbling brook next to tent pitch up area, easily parked two cars and trailer in private space.

    Disliked:

Bit of a rough track down to actual campsite but that’s rural life. No play area for over 12’s but not a huge problem. Would’ve been nice to have had a timed section for kids to feed the animals or collect eggs. Dog section in field needs a little re-fencing as small as schnauzer style dogs able to get through but for medium size not a problem.

We loved this campsite! The animals in the fields around us were lovely, the ‘park’ was a big hit with our 5 year old. Staff were always around to help or just to chat, and they were very good at enforcing quiet times after 10pm which was nice. The honesty shop was cute and had everything we could need. We really enjoyed our stay.

    Disliked:

There wasn’t much to complain about , but if I had to nitpick -
The road down to the site from the main road was very bumpy, but not too bad if you drive slowly.
There really wasn’t much in the way of local pubs/restaurants, we drove to a nearby village to eat one evening but generally we cooked on site.
The facilities are a little basic…there are 3 toilets and 3 showers (unfortunately one of them wasn’t working properly while we were there), but they are clean. A family bathroom would be a welcome addition as my kids hated the showers.

    Everything!
This campsite is an absolute gem, the owner and staff are utterly amazing. They can’t do enough for you, and regularly checking that all is okay.
The facilities are great, showers and toilets are clean and cleaned multiple times a day.

They have fridges/ freezer for campers use and a brilliant little honesty shop that sold a little bit of everything. Coffee machine also available to use.

We got to be involved with animal feeding which we all loved. All the animals surround the camp field and where super friendly the donkeys where my fave. There was a play park in the centre of the field for all the children to play on which makes it a dream for us parents to sit back, relax and keep a eye on them.

I’d be here all day if I listed everything I loved about this site, but it’s the first time in all our years of camping where we’ve loved a campsite so much we’ve booked to go again next year.

Fabulous stay, my children are already counting down the day until we come back.

    Thank you 😊
