Hideaway Camping: Lots of open space

General

  • Quiet site on a family smallholding with views, well off the main road
  • Saundersfoot and Tenby beaches within 25 minutes' drive
  • Donkeys, alpacas, geese, pygmy goats and ponies on site to meet

The splendid parts of Pembrokeshire are well documented: gorgeous beaches, fab coastal walking, top theme parks and ancient castles… Hole yourselves up for hols at Hideaway Camping, a mile outside of the market town of Narberth, to be well set for easy access to all the above.

If you're an animal enthusiast, you'll be enthusiastic about this lush site too: Hideaway has ponies, horses, donkeys, alpacas, rabbits, ducks, chickens and geese to meet, as well as the tiny chipmunks who love to show off… just feed them nuts to see how much.

Hideaway is in a cunningly convenient spot, centrally placed for visiting attractions all over the county – it's 15 minutes' drive to the nearest beach at Amroth; 20 to the beaches of Pendine and Saundersfoot; 25 to Tenby, and half an hour to the surfers’ faves of Broad Haven and Newgale. The area's top theme parks are both about 15 minutes’ drive away, or you could take a half-hour hike to Narberth Castle to delve into local history instead.

And after all that lot? There’s plenty of space in the accommodation field for kids to let off steam running about; grownups, meanwhile, can light up a barbie for an evening of bangers and beer while the stars come out overhead. Essential supplies are available in the honesty shop.

Creature comforts include a laundry facility, a washing-up area with hot water and a toilet block with hot showers. There's good news for dog owners here too: friendly hounds are welcome on site and have been provided with their own washing area for the hosing down of mucky pups (less welcome news for the dogs themselves, perhaps…)

Please note

Dogs are not allowed in the accommodation units.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

If making a fire, the fuel, logs and coal have to be purchased on site.

Please note that access to site is via a bumpy track that is not suitable for low-profile cars.

Fantastic little place, the oweners are extremely friendly and helpful. The facilities are impeccably clean to a very high standard, nice hot power shower and honesty shop come in very handy. Overall an amazing little find.

    Disliked:

Very pricey, by far the most expensive camp site iv visited, I didn't mind given the current climate (covid) but I have to say when the world is fixed I would think twice about paying this price again. Far far cheaper sites to visit up west.

From the manager...

Thank you for leaving us a review. I'm glad you loved our little site and found the facilities spotlessly clean. The woodland pitch is a little special being very large, flanked by the pretty stream with its own fire pit and cooking tripod. Picnic bench and gazebo. With all the animals on site for you to enjoy we feel that it is worth the extra. Hopefully next time you come and stay you would choose the camping field which starts at £20 per night for 2 people. It was unfortunate that because of Covid we were not able to accommodate you on a cheaper pitch.

    Everything!

We had a great stay at Hideaway Camping. Lesley and Damian were really friendly. The showers were hot! It was great being near the animals; they provided great evening entertainment whilst around the campfire! The honesty shop is a great addition as were the fridges.

Will definitely be coming back in the warmer months and will bring the family along too! 😊🦙🐑🐐

I promise every Family with young children, you will not find a better camping site in West Wales!!!

The site had everything. A small play area for the children, a range of animals, a woodland walk and close to tenby and saundersfoot.

The facilities were amazing. Camp Fires, toilets, showers, cleaning areas and even phone charging points and fridges to use for free.

And to have a cooked breakfast inside the conservatory was an added bonus!

Honestly I will be booking asap to go again!!!

Best Camping ive ever done with a 3 and 6 year old!!!

We stayed in the woodland area and was awesome. The other pitches looked well spaced out too. The site was out of the way and very quiet. We loved the location and the animals. The lady who owns the site was also lovely

Remote but also close to a small town and close enough to beach towns and coastal walks
