Nolton Cross Caravan Park: View over the site

General

  • Scenic site overlooking St Brides Bay
  • Working farm set in open countryside, with on-site farm shop
  • Coarse fishing lake within easy driving distance

Plenty of mighty pretty places are in Pembrokeshire. And one of the county's prettiest is St Brides Bay, the mouth of water and coast from Skomer to Ramsey islands – it's part of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and has a few Sites of Special Scientific Interest thrown in to boot.

Overlooking this pretty lot is Nolton Cross Caravan Park, a mile and a half inland from the hamlet of Nolton Haven, and set in open countryside as part of a working farm.

The kids have plenty of space for ball games on site as well as a play area that's centrally situated to all areas so they can play safely and parents can have peace. A coarse fishing lake with views towards the Preseli Hills is about 500 metres from the park: perhaps unsurprisingly, this vista is mighty pretty too.

Fancy some splendid food to go with your splendid views? Owners Emily and Simon run a farm shop on site inspired by the 'gate to plate' philosophy: that means home-reared beef along with other local produce with low food miles.

    Disliked:

Disliked is the wrong word, these are things that detracted from our enjoyment...

Due to its raised location there was a continuous and very chilly breeze from the coast throughout our 3 night stay in June. Not the fault of the site owners but something that needs to be carefully considered. For example, if putting up an awning, give careful consideration to the orientation of your caravan. We tried twice and failed due to the constant breeze blowing the awning against the side of the van or inflating it like a parachute.

Currently the toilet block/washing up facilities are situated at the site entrance which is a fair walk from the touring site. However, to the site's credit 2 metal structures appeared in the touring site during our stay, containing loos and washbasins so this problem looks set to be overcome very soon.

Space - pitches are huge, location - close to Newgale beach with is lovely and staff - really lovely, smiley and friendly! Little farm shop is an added plus, with frozen veg and food bought by the scoop so you can have as much/ little as you want!! Usual meats, cheeses, breads and drink too aswell as little gifts.

    Disliked:

The track to the site, often single car width with passing spaces (busy and due to time if year lots of tractors) and location of facilities (this is due an upgrade this year, but right at the other end of the park)

From the manager...

Thank you so much for your comments and we will take these into consideration

The Shepherds Huts are going to be relocating to another location on site within the next few days and we have plans on some new toilet facilities being located where the Shepherds Huts are in our main touring and camping field at present next to chemical disposal point once they have relocated. We have also looked into why the lightening was not working at night during your stay and that has been looked at and has now sorted. We are sorry they were not working during your stay and hope that we can welcome you back again in the near future.
