Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: We loved our stay here and think its a fantastic site. The pitches are a nice size and facilities are clean. Staff was all friendly and helpful. The site has multiple biking trails for all abilities which we loved. We also loved the watersports and had a great time on the lake even in the rain.

Disliked: Although the shower and toilet facilities are excellent, they are in the activity centre which is open to visitors/public and not solely for those on the campsite which felt a bit strange. It wasn't that busy with visitors when we was there but it felt a bit strange waking through the centre in pjs in the morning. So it would be nice to have a private camping facility, however this would not stop us from returning in the future.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Well maintained pitches in an amazing location overlooking the lake. If you like walking this is a great place for you as the walkways take you around the lake. The area houses many bird species including Canada Geese and there are many rabbits. The lake is full of trout for those wishing to fish. The toilet and shower facilities are new and are very clean. During the summer months there will be more activities. The shop and cafe is also newly built, it is clean and has a lovely view of the lake and surrounding countryside. The site is very peaceful and quiet.

Disliked: Pitching our awning was too difficult and so we had to abandon it. This was due to the ground which is too hard to put tent pegs into, ours just bent. So if anyone intents to put sides on an awning, strong rockpegs are recommended. Mens showers are one communal room, (the womens are separate cubicles.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your comprehensive review. We are sorry you had problems pitching your awning. The rock pegs are a good recommendation. Work will begin soon to turn the men's communal showers in to individual cubicles.

We will be back! We loved our weekend here.

Liked: This is an amazing site! We loved our first time camping here . The facilities are immaculate and fabulous. Every member of staff was smiling, friendly, chatty and lovely. You can tell people love working here. The cafe food was amazing...great gluten free options throughout the day...and an out of this world dog menu too!! Great shop too if you forget to bring some basics. Dogs were allowed on leads everywhere on site. We took part in swimming, running and archery over the weekend. (We will be back with our bikes next time). Security and safety day and night were excellent, as we came and went out at night to a local pub for dinner. We felt our car and kit was safe 24/7.

Disliked: This is not a dislike but a request....can you please put on more swimming life guards to enable us to swim more often during the day. It would be wonderful, as the clocks have now changed if there was a sunrise and sunset swim opportunity. Even if just for 1 hour for people staying on site. You have an amazing location and facilities for Triathlon training!!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you, for your fabulous review. We are looking at dates for future sunset activities. Triathlon training location is a great suggestion. It was a joy to see you all having such fun. We look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Liked: Very friendly staff! Great facilities - full hook up and a flat surface for our campervan. Beautiful views over the reservoir, valleys and hills of Pembrokeshire On-site cafe (not open 24 hrs) and small shop

Disliked: Would ideally like more variety of food shopping in the cafe/shop for more hours, as nearest grocery store is some distance away!

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review. We all agree, the views here really are beautiful. We are in the process of expanding our shop range and happily take on suggestions of items you would like to see stocked. We look forward to seeing you again.

Local attractions

There’s a lot to do on site, for sure – but there’s also plenty to keep you busy when venturing out into your surroundings. The Pembrokeshire coast, for example, is less than half an hour’s drive away, for beach days in the likes of Broad Haven (half an hour’s drive), the ever-popular Tenby or its neighbour Saundersfoot (both 40 minutes). Pembrokeshire’s packed with historic places to visit too, including the lovely little city of St Davids (40 minutes), with its ancient cathedral and Bishops’ Palace. Carew Castle & Tidal Mill (35 minutes) is also worth a visit, to hear the tale of the castle’s 2000-year history and see the only restored tidal mill in Wales. If that’s not the kind of thing your kids are keen on, perhaps instead plan trips to the Pembrokeshire Llama Sanctuary (15 minutes), Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (half an hour) or the action-packed Heatherton World of Activities (35 minutes) for things like paintballing, ziplines and crazy golf.
