General

  • Family run for over 40 years
  • Less than two miles from beaches
  • Heated indoor pool, paddling pool and clubhouse

Want to pitch up in splendid New Quay on the Ceredigion coast, former home of Dylan Thomas and 20 minutes’ drive from rubbernecking at the bottlenose dolphins of Cardigan Bay? Pitch up at Pencnwc Holiday Park.

It’s less than two miles from New Quay’s beaches, five miles from the sands at Ceredigion and has been family-run for over 40 years so knows what’s what in making sure it has a stonking amount to do on site for pitchuppers of all sizes and inclinations.

After your warm Welsh welcome at reception, let the small sorts roam: they can take their pick from two on-site play areas, an amusingly big amusement arcade, splashing around in the heated indoor pool with adjacent paddling pool, or getting crafty making art, jewellery, sport and games at the free kids’ club. The entertainment runs into the evening in Merlyn’s Den, one of the two bars in the clubhouse, and is suitable for all sizes.

Seeking a slightly more sedate or grownup time? Hide yourself away in Pencnwc’s second pub Smugglers Bar for a coffee, newspaper or catching up with what’s happening in the world of sport on the bar’s numerous tellies; fish and chips, pies and other seaside snacks available from the Smugglers takeaway can be taken into the entertainment bar and the Smugglers bar serves sit-down meals. Or take munchies to the on-site fishing lake, where acres of space abound for quiet contemplation and no-one nicking your chips.

Small sorts probably won’t be too fussed about the onsite facilities, but grownups should be chuffed with the amenities on offer including loo and shower blocks with free hot water, a modern launderette and a washing-up area all kept in sparkingly good order among the flowers, shrubbery and well-maintained grounds.

There’s no food shop on site, but you’ll find two at the nearby village of Cross Inn, a few minutes’ walk from the site entrance.

Please note

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

Continental touring caravans (caravans built with the door on the right-hand side) are not permitted.

Camping: access to the swimming pool is not included in the rate and is charged £0.50 per person per session.

The site does not allow dogs over any bank holiday weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). The excluded dates are 28/04/17 - 30/04/17 and 26/05/17 - 28/05/17 and 25/08/17 - 27/08/17.

Site was immaculate very well set out, flower beds and grass was really well kept. Staff where very welcoming and food in restaurant was super, facilities where fab as was entertainment. A really great site for young and old will recommend to all

    Disliked:

It was hard to get our pegs in the hard pitch but then again we only had the cheap thin ones, we have now purchased the tough heavy duty ones ready for next visit. So this is not a complaint just a warning for those who have cheap thin pegs

Everything about the site, it was lovely & clean & very well maintained. All the staff were a great from the warm reception welcome on arrival to our leaving the bar in the evening. As our first time out with our caravan the pitches were great and level. There is also a nice swimming pool & a beautiful lake to walk round & if your a fisher you could have a try here.

Great location. Hard standing touring pitch. On site pub and fish and chip bar.

    Disliked:

Poor water pressure at drinking water filling points especially when other taps were in use. Lack of dedicated grey water waste disposal points i.e. having to lift grey waste container onto a shelf in order to empty. Lack of dedicated recycling points for glass, cardboard etc.

Cleanliness of facilities, quality of fish and chips in onsite chippy.
    Good location and easy access.

    Disliked:

The one good sunny day when we could sit outside they decided to cut the grass, man on tractor went over same piece of grass by our vans SIX TIMES took ages to cut grass, then went other side of us to cut grass, then came back with another lawn mower to cut some again. The area by our van had been waterlogged after heavy rain and was still muddy and wet.
Wouldn't book a grass pitch at this site if any chance of rain as soon gets muddy.
Site on slope use of blocks for front legs may be needed dependant where you are.

Clean and tidy site. Good showers.

    Disliked:

Bar was very busy - no room in one half and the other had booming disco music. The middle room off the corridor was also too loud from the disco music spilling out of the adjacent room. Glad to see they were busy but no option for a quiet drink! Pub down the road solved the problem though!
