Want to pitch up in splendid New Quay on the Ceredigion coast, former home of Dylan Thomas and 20 minutes’ drive from Cardigan Bay, known for its bottlenose dolphins? Pitch up at Pencnwc Holiday Park. It’s less than two miles from New Quay’s safe beaches and harbour walls, five miles from the sands at Ceredigion and 20 from the university town of Aberystwyth; Cardigan is the same distance to the south. The site has been family-run for over 40 years, so there's plenty to do for guests of all inclinations. Let the kids take their pick from two on-site play areas, a big amusement arcade, splashing around in the heated indoor pool with adjacent paddling pool, or getting stuck into art, jewellery, sport and games at the free kids’ club. The entertainment (available every day through the school holidays and every weekend for the rest of the year) runs into the evenings in Merlin’s Den, one of the two bars in the clubhouse, and is suitable for all sizes. Seeking grownup time? Head to the second pub, Smugglers Bar, for a coffee, newspaper or catching up with what’s happening in the world of sport on the bar’s numerous TVs. The bar also serves meals (including breakfasts and lunches), and there's a tempting range of street food to take away – think pizzas, loaded fries and smashed burgers. You may like to take your munchies to the on-site nature pond, where acres of space abound for quiet contemplation (and no one nicking your chips). On-site amenities include loo and shower blocks with hot water, a modern launderette and a washing-up area all kept in spankingly good order among the flowers, shrubbery and well-maintained grounds. There’s no food shop on site, but there are two at the nearby village of Cross Inn, a few minutes’ walk away.

Em va agradar We loved this holiday park, so clean and well kept. The staff were all amazing. Great entertainment. The food in the restaurant was beautiful and best we have ever had at a holiday park.
We enjoyed our time so much we extended our stay. Will definitely return. Thank you.

No em va agradar Only slight negative for us as a family is the boys (10 and 14) love playing pool. The only table in the park was over 16s so they were disappointed with that.

Em va agradar Clean well laid out park, excellent shower and toilet facilities. Good on site club with entertainment and bingo session with great prize money.
Indoor swimming pool looked good and the adventure park was great for kids.
What with the adventure golf and other outdoor games facilities there would be plenty to keep you entertained.
The free shuttle bus into New Quay was a welcome bonus as we cannot use our bus passes in Wales.
All in all we had a good few days there, although it does get busy at the weekend.

No em va agradar An earlier return on the shuttle would have been welcome, as there's not enough to see in New Quay in 5 hours.

Em va agradar Courtesy bus is great and very welcomed. Driver was friendly and knowledgeable and made 2 trips as there were alot of people booked on. Picked us back up at the stated time.

No em va agradar The welcome on arrival. Our booking wasn't recorded even though the site had taken our final balance 2 weeks prior. We had to wait ages for them to sort it out and find us a pitch. There was no apology ...only a 'well pitch up hasn't told us about your booking' ( note here that the actual site debited our card 2 weeks prior for the balance)

We also couldn't take dogs into the clubhouse so would have had to sit outside to eat if we needed to. Thankfully the pub down the road is dog friendly and serves food .

The showers are a little tired and operate on a push button which you had to keep pressing each time the water stopped

There's a fine population of the marine mammals nearby but for a cast-iron guarantee of wildlife sightings you may like to drop in at the town's Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre. The market town of Cardigan (a hub for active pursuits) and the university town of Aberystwyth are both 20 miles away. Top local beaches are at Aberaeron (15 minutes' drive), and Llangrannog (20 minutes).
