General

  • 250-acre National Trust Farm with stunning sea views
  • Wildlife haven within five minutes' walk of the nearest beach
  • Pitch where you are like in a spacious camping field

Look at the pics. Look. At. The. Pics. Celtic Camping in Pembrokeshire is in an utterly lush location, four miles south of also utterly lush St Davids and on the 250-acre working and wildlife-laden National Trust farm of Pwll Caerog, part of which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. And then there’s the beach: the pebbly cove of Aber Pwll is at the foot of the farm about five minutes’ walk away.

You’ll be reeling with glee at the views from all around here, right across the Irish Sea and Abereiddy Bay with slate quarry-filled Blue Lagoon, a deeply desirable spot for diving and twice host of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series. If you want walkies, the Pembrokeshire Coast Path is about 500 metres from the farm and coastal trails run from Abereiddy to the village of Porthcain in one direction, and to Whitesands Bay via St Davids Head in the other.

Pitch anywhere you like around the roomy camping field: this is a relaxed and friendly site with loads of space for all: dogs, families, individuals and couples included. Toilets and showers are cleaned and maintained on a regular basis.

The site also has a large temporary indoor dining area, but you might reckon this is one of the most viewsome places around to eat alfresco: campfires and barbecues are – naturally – allowed, and firewood or charcoal can be bought from the amiable Celtic Camping team.

Friendly Staff/Owner, amazing views, good facilities inc microwave, fridge freezer, dinning room if required. Close to local town and shops but out the way enough for peace and quiet. Dog and fire friendly also they were very accommodating, offering a room in the bunk house on arrival due to bad weather conditions and providing pallets to help with the mud.

    Disliked:

Field was boggy due to a festival the week before and rain on the day of arrival which lead to my car getting stuck in the field. Free roaming dogs from the farm house, they were friendly and by no means aggressive but unattended and was very interested in my dog and there was some tence moments which left us concerned if they didnt get on as we woyldnt be able to split it up (this might not be the case in season)

Thank you so much for your kind words - no matter what time of year our customers arrive, we still strive to provide a friendly warm welcome. Like you we also love the views here, especially as you can see so much of our Welsh coastline. We are also pleased that you like our facilities. Hopefully we will see you back here in the future. Warmest regards John

Level pitch, friendly and helpful staff. Scenery and views excellent toilets and shower facilities, offering use of the communal indoor area for meals etc. We were also offered to make use of the bunkhouse should the weather get to cold for my 7 year old, no matter what time of night it was. Excellent

Spectacular views out to sea. Can camp anywhere on site. Hot water in the barn on tap. We needed it.

Bring good strong tent pegs as the ground has a rocket bed. Bought several tent pegs purchased from go camping, Declathon tent pegs are better quality and thicker 7inch.

    Disliked:

We know that the camp site was pet friendly we accepted this. I love dogs myself, my girlfriend is a bit scared but accepts that certain camp sites allow pets. Francesca was conscious of this and said there are 2 dogs on site but she would make sure the owner was aware of this.

There were two massive land pitches no one camping and for all off the places for the two dogs to constantly visit to do their nessessaries was right in front if our tent. I guess they were marking their terriotary but honestly it became very annoying and they even scared us at night as they just would suddenly appeared.

There not the sort of dogs you can tell to go away. 2 Alsations that hang together.

Received a very friendly welcome on arrival. Site was very clean and spacious. On second week had very bad storm which broke the tent poles and Ian the owner took time out to check that we were OK. Due to the collapsed tent he kindly offered us the use if either the bungalow or bunk house for our own safety. This was an extremely kind and thoughtful gesture, thank you

From the manager...

It’s great to hear that our staff were so helpful - we pride ourselves on our customer service and understand the importance of looking after everyone, as this is your holiday. Exposure to the elements is the downside to such a wonderful view, hopefully you were comfortable in the accommodation. Warm Regards - Francesca

Local attractions

Coasteering, kayaking, sailing, surfing, rock climbing and other hair-raising and scenic adventures are all around, with several activity centres easily reachable from Celtic Camping; the site staff can arrange something for those who’d like to plunge in.

If you’re taking to the area under your own steam, Pembrokeshire has dozens of eye-wateringly pretty Blue flag beaches to pick from: award-winning Whitesands, about 40 minutes’ walk from Abereiddy Bay, is a hit with surfers for the breaks on its northern end.

A little further along the coast from Whitesands and towards the north end of St Brides Bay on St Davids Peninsula, slip around to the fishing village and harbour of Solva to drop jaw at the views around the Griben coastal walk. Pick up freshly dressed Pembrokeshire crab at the village seafood shop for later back at the barbie: three pubs, two cafés and two restaurants are around too for a pitstop.

The Puffin Shuttle coastal bus goes from Solva to Britain’s smallest city St Davids three times a day in summer: get the early one to see the cathedral properly as well as Bishops Palace beside it.

Must see

  • St Davids Cathedral (3.3 miles)
  • Pembrokeshire Coast National Park (19.7 miles)
  • Pembroke Castle (21.6 miles)

National Trust

  • St David's Visitor Centre and Shop (3.7 miles)
