  • Family-run Mid Wales farm site just off the A44
  • Llandrindod Wells 10 minutes' drive; 20 minutes to Knighton
  • Local pub 10 minutes' walk away along a footpath
Stopping over for a night, or in need of a base for a longer break meandering around Mid Wales? Either way, there's a warm welcome at Dolswydd Caravan Park, in a handy spot just off the A44, 10 minutes’ drive from Llandrindod Wells. This family-run site is on the edge of a traditional working farm with a backdrop of open common land and the Welsh hills behind. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it’s something of a wildlife haven, with regular visitors including red kites, otters, woodpeckers and hares as well as the swans who stop by daily. Getting out and about in the local countryside is a cinch from here – walkers can hit major trails like the Offa’s Dyke Path and Glyndŵr's Way, or find quiet local lanes to wander along. Golf, horse riding, canoeing, archery and climbing are among the other activities available nearby, and there’s fishing next door to the site on the river Ithon. Modern facilities on site include bathrooms with toilets and showers, plus a launderette. A short (500-metre) walk away is the local pub, which serves good home-cooked food and has a lovely riverside beer garden.
