What customers say

This is a highly-rated, small campsite situated directly on the beach, offering stunning views and exceptional sunsets. Visitors consistently praise the spotless, modern toilet and shower facilities, along with the peaceful atmosphere. Wildlife sightings, including seals, dolphins, and eagles, are a significant highlight. The friendly and helpful host, Judith, is frequently mentioned. While the location is a major draw, some minor points include occasional traffic noise and seaweed on the beach. The site is described as immaculate, well-maintained, and a place many intend to revisit.

Electric grass touring pitch (sea view)

Liked Convent site, the warden was very pleasant, welcoming and accommodating. Lovely views on a clear day

Disliked Small pitches quite close together, was okay when we visited as only a couple of pitches taken.
Showers need to be better thought out, there was nowhere near the shower to hang a towel or put toiletries, although there were hooks near the door entrance. There was nowhere to sit your dry/clean clothes or to sit whilst dressing.

Electric grass touring pitch (sea view)

Liked Lovely site with amazing views, the sunsets are unreal!! Facilities were cleaned regularly.

Disliked During our stay there was a couple of drainage issues with both toilets fully blocked and unusable and showers flooding. Unfortunately was unable to get hold of anyone to rectify despite texting and calling but this had been resolved the following day.

Electric grass touring pitch (sea view)

Liked Good sea views, great bathroom and toilets in proper buildings. Small number of vans right on sea front. Very nice lady who helped with info etc.

Disliked very strange policy of not allowing the addition of a tent for members of my party as we only have a small van. Due to the adverse weather conditions we therefore had to rent in addition a pod for two people. This was a unbudgeted expense. Really needs a change of policy here to be in line with modern standards and peoples way of family camping.

Local attractions

Get ready to go a-sailing… and along to Campbeltown for regular boat trips to Ailsa Craig, Sanda Island and around the peninsula for wildlife and whale watching. On damp days, take the kids to seek refuge at the small soft play, the swimming pool or the oldest cinema in Scotland. Forest and hill walks are a short distance from the site. A boat also goes to Ballycastle from here via Islay: from there, take a ferry back over water to reach the fab and tiny RSPB reserve of Rathlin Island (here there be puffins). Are you a golfer? And if so, have you ever hit a ball over the Atlantic? If your responses here were first Aye and then a wistful Nay, take the tees to Machrihanish Golf Club above the northern tip of the Mull of Kintyre to try it out. Several other golf courses are in the area once this has whetted your golfing whistle: try Carradale and Dunaverty to start things off. This is also whisky land, with the two distilleries of Glen Scotia and Springbank in Campbeltown. Both have gift shops (huzzah) and run regular tours.
