The pub from the road
Peaceful pub garden complete with thatched smoking shelter
Hardstanding area in a sheltered spot by the fruit and vegetable garden

  • Peaceful camping field with year-round facilities
  • National Trust and English Heritage properties close by
  • Hike the 20 minutes up Ham Hill from the site
Check out this well-connected Somerset pub site… The Masons Arms is in the good-looking hamstone village of Odcombe near Yeovil, surrounded by topping walking trails – the 20-minute hike up Ham Hill is thoroughly recommended just to start strolls off. The Masons Arms is close to many Somerset attractions including National Trust and English Heritage properties, but is set peacefully well away from the main road. And as it's a pub site, dinner and drinks in the Arms each evening are also thoroughly recommended (the bar and restaurant are closed on Monday and reopen at 4pm on Tuesday) - no fights needed about who's going to drive home… Facilities at the Masons Arms include a modern unisex amenities block with two toilets, two showers, three sinks, a washing-up area, a hairdryer, an iron and an ironing board.

What customers say

This is a quiet, friendly campsite located in a beautiful village, attached to an excellent pub serving good food. Staff are consistently praised for their friendliness and helpfulness. Facilities, including toilets and showers, are generally reported as clean, though some visitors suggest they are basic and could benefit from updating or are insufficient when the site is busy. Dog owners appreciate the dedicated walking area. Some minor issues noted include overflowing bins and occasional Wi-Fi signal weakness.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked location, staff, levelled pitches, nice views, safety (solo camper here), clean site and lots of bins provided, the other reviews about messy bins must be old so don't hold on to these

Disliked toilet paper could be restocked more often on busy weekends,
quite packed on a bank holiday (understandable) and due to the general small campsite size

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Nice camping area near the pub, nice to sit in the beer garden on a warm day and have food and drinks. Mostly flat and everyone was very welcoming. We did leave early but that was because of the weather more than anything which isn't the owners fault.

Disliked The toilet rolls would run out by 7am and not get replaced until toilet cleaning closer to 10am. We did ask about ice pack freezing which was listed as a feature but told by staff they dont do it. Unfortunately because the weather was in the 30s we left early because we couldn't keep food or ourselves cool.

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked The country location and the food in the pub.

Disliked I get it is a pub location with limited facilities. However, the showers/toilets were filthy with the same large clump of hair in the wall for 3 days. Lighting was on a sensor which only lasted a very minimal amount of time before plunging you into darkness meaning not enough time to shower or use the toilet. Showers were push button which wouldn't work unless constantly held in meaning only one hand to wash with. Anti social behaviour from a few occupants on the site. Although not the fault of the provider there was noone to address it. Drinking water was hidden in a corner behind full emptied bins. We left one night early owing to the poor cleanliness.

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked Lovely friendly staff, beautiful village, great walks for the dog with miles and miles of footpaths around the local orchards, quiet campsite.

Disliked My original pitch was basically impossible to get into! Very heavily laden pear tree, which could do with a good pruning, a caravan with its butt half over the pitch on one side, and a massive tent set up with guy ropes everywhere encroaching on the other side. Luckily there was another pitch available and I was put in there for my one night.

Liked Peaceful, lovely pub, great staff
Near large supermarket and retail park but you wouldn’t know it as the site is tucked away

Disliked Brewery that operate it have not paid the staff for months so the pub ended up closing whilst we were there
