  • Peaceful secluded park over a 30-acre wildlife haven
  • Bournemouth and Christchurch 20 minutes' drive
  • Woodlands walks, pitch and putt, library and boules all available
Spread over 30 acres of Dorset woodland, river, heathland and lakes, Back of Beyond meanders over countryside naturally inhabited by a wide variety of wildlife: look out for deer, squirrels, moles, rabbits and the soaring sights of birds including the resident woodpecker. The site is dog friendly too (apart from in one of the wildlife-laden accommodation areas) and there's a 10-acre woodland area set aside especially for canines. Restful pastimes include boules, woodland walks, and a five-acre nine-hole pitch and putt course among the squirrels, moles and rabbits (hire the necessary bits and pieces on site). Facilities here include heated toilet and shower blocks, a private disabled shower room, hairdryers, washing-up areas, a reception area, Monty's Bar and a shop. Essential supplies (food and beer) can be found at the two excellent pubs within walking distance; supermarkets, restaurants and two caravan and camping centres are within a few minutes by car.

Emma's Glade non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch (no pets, wild)

Liked Loved our stay at Back of Beyond!
Emma's Glade was out the way and just right for us.
Such a peaceful, well-kept site with really friendly staff. Everything was super clean and it’s a great spot to just relax and switch off.
The Bar and food vans are brilliant.
Can’t fault it at all – we’ll definitely be back 👍

Disliked no option to book a 2 night stay.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch (XL)

Liked Everything. From the pitch, to the spotless wash/toilet facilities, to the shop, to the bar, the nightly different choice of take away, the walks in the woods (the pups loved it soooo much), the peaceful strolls around the pond. If you want to be spoilt on a site choose this one and sit back and just chill. No need to go further.
If your into bird watching then this is the site for you.

Disliked Nothing.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked I really don't want to give a review of this campsite as it is a hidden gem, so dont want to encourage others to visit lol, bit selfish but want to keep it to myself, but this place is amazing, quiet, clean, tidy, absolutely wonderful staff, with a lot of hidden extras, like a different food van each night, a breakfast van in the mornings, a pub onsite but open shorter hrs in the evening to keep the drunkenness noise down, a shop selling organic handmade food, try the very berry jam omg delicious on scones and clotted cream, showers and toilets impeccable, very spacious pitches. Trust me the images on here do not do it justice.

Disliked Nothing to dislike.

We are so pleased you had a great stay.
I am not sure what you mean about no breakfast during your stay?
We do fresh bakery every morning seven days a week, and we also do cooked breakfast baps each morning Wednesday through to Sunday.
Try one next time you stay with us.

Liked We love Back of Beyond because of the enclosed woodland area which is perfect for letting our dog off lead. A great bar and the BoB team are all super friendly. Secure Adult only site, perfect for a relaxing break.

Disliked Not much within walking distance.
No TV signal, Phone and Data signal poor but the site has free WiFi which we found OK for streaming TV.

From the manager: Thank you for the review Jeff.
There are 3 walks you can do from the park, and we have flyers in reception to give you with them.
We are just having fibre optic fitted so that will improve the wifi greatly.
Many thanks

Liked Everything.

Disliked It was a shame there was not any entertainment the weekend my wife and I went, we should have been aware, that was our own fault. We have now booked a weekend where there is.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for the top score. We really appreciate it. Entertainment is on about 12 times a year. It is listed on our website under 'Special events' so you can decide if you want to come to one of those nights or not in advance. Many thanks

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked It was a lovely campsite with spotlessly clean, modern facilities. The staff were so friendly and made us feel at home. The site is also dog friendly with a large wooded area where our dog could run about off her lead.

Disliked We struggled to get connected to the power supply initially but the staff were on hand to help us in the pouring rain.
There was a little bit of road noise in the morning but I don't think that would be an issue in the summer when the trees are in leaf.

From the manager: Good to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. Thank you for your patience with the electric, it is new for all of us which is why we are doing a soft launch with no charge so that we can iron out any issues. Have a lovely christmas and we hope to see you again soon.

Route directions

Some guests have issues with the site address when put into some satnav devices. Please print out these directions and follow these when you are close to the site to ensure you find the site easily. From the north or east: From the M3, take J14 onto the M27 westbound and join the A31 (signposted Ringwood). Pass Ringwood; stay on the A31 to St. Leonards and pass St. Leonards Hotel on left. At the next roundabout (signed Boundary Lane), turn right into the site lane. Take care: this turn is set back from the roundabout by a few yards, so look for the site sign and one for Shamba. From the west: Follow the signs for Ringwood on the A31 eastbound. Pass The Woodman pub on your left. At the next roundabout go straight over and immediately left into the site lane. Drive straight down the lane, pass Shamba and go through the twin towers to the site barrier. When you arrive at the barrier system press the button for attention.
