General

  • One of the closest campsites to Bournemouth
  • Sociable atmosphere which respects guest's peace and quiet
  • Lots of water-based activities to do nearby

If your camping destination is Dorset-based, farm yourself out to the friendly folk at St Leonards Farm Caravan & Camping Park, which is an ideal base for exploring Bournemouth, Poole and the New Forest. There are sparkling loos, toasty hot water for showers and washing up, and well marked-out pitches – clearly these farm folk know what campers want. And canine campers are welcome too.

If you want to sizzle your own sausages, you can exchange gas cylinders on site and there are two major supermarkets within five minutes’ drive, or two pubs within a mile and a number of nearby restaurants if you’re feeling lazy/thirsty. St Leonards Farm is a sociable but quiet site and has a 'no noise after 11pm' policy – perfect if you’re getting up at the crack of dawn for some seaside exploring.

Everything, even the rain did not dampen our weekend. I like how secure the site is, you pay £10(refundable) for a card to let you get in out of the barrier. There is a sainsburys, Lidl, near by, so no need for a shop on site. We liked it soo much we are going back in August.

Will definitely go back, very friendly staff 18/07/2017

  • Liked:

size of pitch, new toilet/shower block, clean and tidy, friendly staff, close enough to Bournemouth and new forest.

    Disliked:

New toilet and shower block very nice, an improvement would be an indication that the cubicle is occupied in some way, say red or green on door as you have to check every door to find one that is unoccupied. Also no hairdryer socket in new shower block so have to go to old block to dry hair.

Local attractions

St Leonards Farm is one of the closest campsites to Bournemouth, with sandy beaches only seven miles away. There’s loads to do nearby if you’re feeling full of beans – try watersports such as windsurfing, sailing or surfing at Bournemouth’s artificial reef, or have at it with some go-karting, dry slope skiing, golf, fishing or horse-riding in the scenic surrounding countryside.

Feeling a bit tired after all that sporty exertion? Take a picnic to nearby Moors Valley Country Park, which has a golf course, cycling routes and outdoor play area, or have a family day out at a plethora of local attractions including Paultons Park, Marwell Zoo, Beaulieu Motor Museum and Wimborne Minster Model Town.

Kids will enjoy fossil hunting on the Jurassic Coast, and if they’re disappointed by not finding a T-rex skeleton right there and then, you can take them along to the Dinosaur Museum at Dorchester, then spoil them with a day out at Adventure Wonderland less than three miles from the park. The site is also an ideal stop over point for the Poole or Portsmouth cross channel ferries.
