St Leonards Farm Caravan and Camping Park: Tents and tourers are welcome on site

General

  • One of the closest sites to Bournemouth
  • Sociable atmosphere that respects guests' peace and quiet
  • Lots of water-based activities to do nearby

If your destination is Dorset-based, farm yourself out to the friendly folk at St Leonards Farm Caravan & Camping Park, which is a splendid base for exploring Bournemouth, Poole and the New Forest. This is a place that has sparkling clean loos, toasty hot water for showers and washing up, and well marked-out pitches – clearly these farm folk know what campers want. And canine campers are welcome too.

If you want to sizzle your own sausages, you can exchange gas cylinders on site and there are two major supermarkets within five minutes’ drive, or two pubs within a mile and a number of nearby restaurants if you’re feeling lazy/thirsty. St Leonards Farm is a sociable but quiet site and has a 'no noise after 11pm' policy – most welcome if you’re getting up at the crack of dawn for some seaside exploring.

Toilet block. Very clean and liked the fact they are like mini bathrooms. Very friendly staff. Indoor play barn.
    All pitches decent size.

    Disliked:

Play barn was a bit too cold to use. Not many toilet/shower facilities but we weren’t affected because the site was extremely quiet.

Absolutely love this place. Owners and staff are very welcoming, polite and friendly. They're always happy to help. The pitches are level, well maintained, well laid out and there's plenty of water supplies nearby the pitches. We have always found it a warm, friendly, generally peaceful place to stay. The shower/ toilet facilities are always maintained and cleaned to very high standards. Although we never use the washing up areas we've seen that they are also kept extremely clean. They also have a kiddies play barn. Highly recommend this site and come ourselves 2 or 3 times a year.
Thanks St Leonard's farm for another fab stay.

Even though we arrived a bit late, we were greeted with a smile and shown our plot. As we are new to caravanning (our first trip) we had a few set up hiccups with the gas and they called to check we were ok and came round to help us sort it out.

Lovely, large, play park (fenced in), dog walking field with beautiful river running through. Nice size pitches. Children can visit the farm animals. Close to shops such as Lidl. 20 mins into Bournemouth. They have a play barn with ball pit we heard but our kids too old for that now.

It’s quite a big terrain yet with the tall hedges in between fields it feels more relaxed. Also the bathrooms aren’t cubicles. You get a whole room with toilet, sink and shower. There’s also an individual heater in each bathroom. Spacious enough to get a child ready for the day which can be hard if it was a regular cubicle.
Also super close to stores and plenty of dinner options in the area.

Local attractions

St Leonards Farm is one of the closest sites to Bournemouth, with sandy beaches only seven miles away. Feeling a bit tired after all that sporty exertion? Take a picnic to nearby Moors Valley Country Park, which has a golf course, cycling routes and outdoor play area, or have a family day out at a plethora of local attractions including Paultons Park, Marwell Zoo, Beaulieu Motor Museum and Wimborne Minster Model Town.

Kids will likely enjoy fossil hunting on the Jurassic Coast, and if they’re disappointed by not finding a T-rex skeleton right there and then, you can take them along to the Dinosaur Museum at Dorchester, then spoil them with a day out at Adventure Wonderland less than three miles from the park. The site is also an ideal stopover point for the Poole or Portsmouth cross-channel ferries.
