Liked Returning 15 years after my last visit but this time with my 6 year old son was magical. We had lovely weather and connected to nature in the best way. Amazing facilities and the kids were entertained all day long. We did two nights and if you are doing more you will probably want to explore locally but there is loads to see on beautiful Dartmoor.

We will be returning with friends over the next few years. Clean facilities, well kept pitches and incredible surroundings.

Take wetsuit shoes and wetsuits for the more sensitive amongst you, the pirate ship and rope swing water is freezing even in summer! But worth it for the feeling.

Liked Wonderful camping experience in beautiful surroundings. Facilities are conveniently located and cleaned regularly. So much to do. Staff were all lovely and very helpful. The food in the old sawmill was delicious. Good value with decent portions and the unlimited salad was a family favourite. My daughter loved all the activities. We’re hoping to squeeze in another stay before the end of the summer holidays.

Disliked Having to leave! I wish we’d booked a few more nights

Liked Beautiful country park with plenty of walks to avoid the crowds, particularly along the river.

Disliked Paying £22 for a small dog for 4 nights. I think that is too much.

Within the Dartmoor National Park, yet only one mile from the A38 between Exeter and Plymouth near Ashburton, we are easy to find and conveniently located. Follow the brown tourist signs to the River Dart Country Park from the Peartree Junction on the A38 by Ashburton. Please note that the Peartree junction is the second Ashburton junction when travelling from Exeter direction. Do not come off at the Linhay junction which takes you through the narrow streets of Ashburton - not ideal when towing a caravan.

Local attractions

When you're ready to venture away from all the site-based antics, the park is a mile from the A38 Devon Expressway for easy access to plenty of top Devon attractions such as Buckfast Abbey (10 minutes' drive away), as well as Devon beaches, coastal paths and cities like Exeter and Plymouth. Ditch the car and explore the surrounding countryside by foot or bike (bike hire is available on site), or drive to the sea on the north or south coasts to access the spectacular South West Coast Path, running along the Devon (and Cornwall) coastline. Or just set out into Dartmoor for wild ponies and riverside ambles all the day long. For a bit more history after Buckfast Abbey, try Powderham Castle, half an hour's drive away, or for more local produce sampling, Dartington Cider Press near Totnes is 15 minutes away.

Booking terms and conditions

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Dogs

Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.

Extras

Motorbike(s) can be brought instead of the car(s) included.

General

Bookings are nominative and non-transferable.
Drones, Chinese lanterns or fireworks are not permitted.
The grocery shop is open between 01/04 and 25/09.
The management reserves the right to deny access or terminate the stay of those guests whose behaviour is deemed unsuitable. No refunds will be offered.
The restaurant is open between 01/04 and 25/09.
You'll need an Environment Agency rod licence (you'll need to apply for this beforehand).

Pitches

Units should not be left unoccupied unless previously agreed with the management. Please speak to reception when the need arises, a fee may be charged for unsupervised units.
You must follow the management directives when pitching your tent/unit and related equipment.

Reception

Reception is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. between 18/07 and 04/09.
Reception is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. between 05/09 and 28/09.
Reception is unmanned after 5 p.m.. Please inform the site while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time, so that the team can provide information about your unit/pitch.

Safety

Barbecues are permitted but must be raised off the ground and attended by an adult at all times.
Fires, barbecues and/or firepits will not be permitted in dry, windy and/or hot weather conditions.
Open fires are prohibited.

Vehicles

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.
No vehicle movement between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m..
Only one car is to be parked by the pitch. Extra vehicles must be parked in the designated area.
The car is only included in the rate if you are travelling with a touring caravan or a tent. If you wish to bring a car along with your motorhome/campervan please select the extra.
The charging of electric vehicles is not permitted on site.

Visitors

Visitors’ cars are not permitted on site.
Visitors must register at reception and pay their fee.

Additional terms

The Dare Devil activities run every day during the school Easter and summer holidays and summer half term. They also run every weekend from April through to the end of September and on the early May bank holiday. Please check for exact annual dates.

Dare Devil activities are not included in the rate and subject to extra charges payable on arrival.
