  • Friendly family-run park between Newquay and Perranporth
  • Shop with essentials at reception and a supermarket down the road
  • Heated outdoor pool with terrace overlooking scenic countryside
Prepare for a warm friendly welcome and smart facilities at Perran Quay Touring Holiday Park, set between Newquay and Perranporth. The considerate family team at Perran Quay have set everything up for their guests' comfort, ensuring well-maintained amenities with free hot showers, a disabled shower and toilet including baby changing facilities, an undercover washing-up area with plenty of hot water, a chemical disposal point and a launderette with coin-operated washing machines and tumble dryers. There's a heated pool here, to the rear of the inn and overlooking the roof terrace: have a dip then settle down on the terrace to soak up spectacular scenery of the Cornish countryside along with your drink. On site, the poolside bar is open during school holidays only. When the bar is open, it serves homemade food and refreshing local drinks, and also hosts entertainment nights a couple of nights per week. Perran Quay is in an elevated position overlooking the Cornish countryside but is flat and level. A shop is in reception, stocking essentials for convenience (a supermarket is easily accessible just down the road).

Liked Liked the location, close proximity to Newquay and A30

Disliked Facilities are outdated and not very clean, no toilet roll and broken toilet seats. Staff were incredibly rude, I’ve never known service like that. No welcome, helpful information and spoke to us like we were a hinderance. CCTV cameras everywhere watching you and staff walk around with torch’s checking up on everybody. It makes it feel like you’re being watched constantly. Female owner has the worst personal skills I’ve ever known. She is mean to children, shouting at them and has no customer service skills and makes everyone feel uncomfortable.

Liked Nice site clean

Disliked Bar prices way too expensive twice the price of drinks back home ! Then for example they say bingo but fail to tell you only on Sunday night! Plus music quiz night we had to leave before our hearing was damaged permanently!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are sorry to hear that your stay at Perran Quay did not meet your expectations.

We do have a small on-site bar, exclusively for guests staying on the site. As it is only open during May half term and the summer holidays, we do not have the same buying power as large chains or busy local public houses. Despite this, we always aim to remain competitively priced within the local area.

We would also like to clarify the entertainment information. Bingo is advertised on the main entrance door when guests first arrive for check-in, on the entrance to the bar, and again near the till. A text message is also sent to guests on the morning of each entertainment evening. The same applies to our quiz nights.

Our quiz night is advertised as a music quiz, where teams are asked to name the song, artist and year, along with some TV theme tunes and children's cartoon themes. The particular evening you attended received a round of applause from those taking part, and we were pleased that the majority appeared to enjoy it. The quiz is free to enter, with a £25 food and drinks voucher awarded to the winning team.

We are also located on the main road between Newquay and Perranporth, so guests are aware of the road location when booking.

Finally, regarding the Wi-Fi rating, we are unsure why this was scored so highly as a negative when we do not advertise Wi-Fi as a facility. The fact that Wi-Fi is not available is clearly stated on both Pitchup and our own website, so this should be apparent before booking.

We appreciate that Perran Quay may not be the right fit for everyone, but we hope this provides some clarification for anyone considering a stay with us.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay and we will be re booking.

Paddy H. 1 review

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The pool was the most attractive feature of the camp site. It was a god send in the heat and the fact it was open so late, it allowed us to chill with the kids after a day of travel/beach. The food was delicious and appreciated the text messages from the owner on the day with food recommendations and options to pre book. Facilities were clean and modern. Space for multiple families to clean up. The site was lively with families but once it was 10pm it was deadly silent. Our pitch was huge compared to other sites, plenty of space for parking and additional awning or gazebo. Fantastic location, we did park and ride to Newquay which was five minute drive from campsite, free parking and £10 for family of four return. Made beach trips really easy. Family run site and all adults and children we interacted with were friendly, polite and helpful.

Disliked Few more options at the shop but honestly this is the only thing I could say.

From the manager: Thank you, Paddy, for your lovely review and for choosing to stay with us at Perran Quay. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay, and we would definitely welcome you back in the future!

We only have a small shop area on site. As there is a large Morrisons within 3 miles, along with several other larger shops nearby, most guests tend to stock up before or during their stay. Unfortunately, this meant that some of the stock we carried was regularly going out of date, so we made the decision to reduce the range we offer rather than continue to lose money on unsold stock.

We now mainly stock the essentials and a few treats, including:
• Small children's toys
• Ice creams
• Soft and cold drinks
• Biscuits and snacks
• Cans of alcoholic drinks
• Milk, tea and coffee
• Cleaning products and bin bags
• Dog poo bags

We also have local area information and leaflets available, as well as a book-swap area for guests to enjoy during their stay.

We appreciate that our shop is small, but we hope the essentials we do provide are useful, while the larger supermarkets and shops nearby offer plenty of choice for anything else you may need.

Thank you again for your kind review, Paddy — we really appreciate it!

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Clean toilets/showers and campsite.
Ice pack facilities
Lots of space /privacy (except drone)

Disliked We had a drone for an hour over 5 evenings going over and hovering above our tent.
I did complain and was told to find out who it was and I said whereabouts it was coming from. I was told that drones are allowed if they have a licence but this isn't the case on a campsite. They are not allowed. It should be put in their policies/ made aware of no drones

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: I did indeed ask you to see where it landed, as you seemed to know where it was coming from.
Also, did you notice it stopped flying? I did eventually find the owner and ask if they would mind not flying, and they were very understanding and stopped.

DJI Mini 4 Pro (under 250g): potentially legal to fly, subject to the A1 rules, campsite permission, privacy, airspace restrictions and not flying over crowds.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Good site & friendly staff

Disliked Campers should bring a hammer for pegs , stones under grass , I forgot this time ops .

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for your lovely review! 😊

We do indeed have hardcore deep under the grass. Without it, we’d be very soggy when it rains, and vehicles could easily get stuck! Luckily, we’ve never had that problem, so the plan has worked really well and we have excellent drainage.

And yes… it’s always wise to bring a hammer when camping! 😂🔨

Enjoy the rest of your summertime

Local attractions

Prepare for a busy Cornish holiday doing exactly what you please – cliff walks, swimming, surfing, fishing, golfing or heritage hunting: Perran Quay Touring Holiday Park is only a few miles from Newquay and the illustrious north Cornish coast, and pretty much anywhere in Cornwall can be reached within an hour's drive. The local towns of Newquay and Perranporth should be first on the itinerary: Newquay for its world-famed surf, zoo and the Blue Reef Aquarium; and Perranporth for a somewhat quieter surfing (or kitesurfing) experience at first-rate Perranporth Beach and another Cornish cider at The Watering Hole, the only pub in the country right on a beach. If you want to walk between the two, the South West Coast Path route runs for about 12 and a half fairly strenuous miles, leaving from Newquay harbour and crossing Fistral beach, another hallowed place for Cornwall surf. From here, pad across the Site of Special Scientific Interest of West Pentire headland for fab floral views, and then onto the towering dunes of Perran Sands and Holywell: yet another Cornish cider will be much deserved after your climb. On Newquay’s outskirts, the Lappa Valley Steam Railway is a chuffing good day out, in a location with rides, a boating lake, play areas, crazy golf, indoor play carriages, nature trails and a toddlers' maze alongside its woodland miniature railway.
