Ik was blij met Well run site , everyone was friendly, swimming pool , on the main road but quite. Nice showers. Situated between Newquay and Perranporth. Would definitely stay again .

Ik was blij met Staff was lovely and very helpful a very nice site toilets was lovely and clean dog walk off site was very good , but stop outside very good pitches was large , I had a booking problem and the lady in the office sorted it out for me couldn’t thank her enough would definitely be back when were in that area again for our holiday .

Ik was niet blij met I would have liked to have had a key code our something of that nature on the entrance to the ladies toilets didn’t feel comfortable going to the toilet when it was dark ,felt that anyone on or off site could have walked in can’t trust anyone at face value not a complaint just a observation.

We used to have a key code on the main shower blocks; it was very costly and was damaged several times beyond repair. Because of the high cost, we decided not to replace it.

We have a family bathroom which is private and can be locked on entry
We also have a disabled shower room, which again is private and can be locked.

Both can be found near the Laundry room. On arrival, you are given a welcome pack, and on the back is a map showing where everything is located.

If you visit again, you are very welcome to use these areas.

Ik was blij met Great location, we like to be away from the hustle and bustle and this place was perfect about 10 mins into Newquay.
Friendly staff really useful guides given on check in on great places to eat and things to do. Bus stop right outside too!
Peaceful as we arrived just as summer holidays were ending!

Ik was niet blij met Facilities are outdated and not very clean, no toilet roll and broken toilet seats. Staff were incredibly rude, I’ve never known service like that. No welcome, helpful information and spoke to us like we were a hinderance. CCTV cameras everywhere watching you and staff walk around with torch’s checking up on everybody. It makes it feel like you’re being watched constantly. Female owner has the worst personal skills I’ve ever known. She is mean to children, shouting at them and has no customer service skills and makes everyone feel uncomfortable.

Had you told us that you were unhappy, we would have been given the opportunity to address the situation. If you genuinely felt that the site was unsuitable for you, we would also have been happy to discuss an early departure and refund the unused nights. It is therefore disappointing to read these concerns for the first time after you had completed your entire stay.
Regarding the CCTV, this is in place for security and insurance purposes, as is increasingly common at campsites and other holiday accommodation. It is not there to watch individual guests or make them feel uncomfortable. Likewise, our presence around the site, including in the evenings, is part of running and maintaining a family campsite — it should not be interpreted as staff constantly watching or policing guests.
Regarding staff walking around with torches, the torch is for our vision when dark. We have a strict 11 pm no-noise policy; another guest reported that your party were screaming for nearly an hour inside your tent

We also make no apology for having rules regarding children and supervision. These rules exist for the safety of children and all our guests. We appreciate that you may not have agreed with the way a particular interaction was handled, but our responsibility is to enforce the site rules consistently rather than make assumptions about whether children are being supervised.
Regarding the toilet seat, this was damaged by a guest and, once we were made aware of it, it was replaced within 24 hours. We always aim to deal with maintenance issues as quickly as possible.

We’re sorry the pool felt a little chilly for the kids. Our pool is heated using a heat-source pump, so unfortunately its temperature is dependent on the sunshine and warmer weather. We really appreciate your understanding!

Ik was blij met Great location, very tidy, clean site well maintained. Lovely campsite, but unfortunately the atmosphere let it down.

Ik was niet blij met The campsite itself is lovely and has a lot going for it, but unfortunately our experience with the staff/owners left a lot to be desired. They came across as very rude and abrupt, and we had several frosty interactions during our stay. Even our very first meeting, when we walked into reception and said hello, we were met with a sharp response of simply, “Name!”

From that point onwards, we were left with a very uneasy feeling and found it difficult to fully relax. We constantly felt as though we were being watched, not only by the cameras around the site but also by staff who seemed to be walking around and monitoring the site almost constantly, including during the evenings. On the odd occasion we did receive a smile, it actually felt more unnerving given the general atmosphere.

I also wouldn’t describe the site as particularly child-friendly. On a couple of occasions, our children were sharply told that they needed an adult with them at all times, despite the fact that we were walking just behind them. Rather than taking a moment to check whether they were actually accompanied or looking to see if we were nearby, they were immediately told off for being on their own. We completely understand the need for site rules and supervision, but the way this was communicated felt unnecessarily abrupt.

We weren’t the only campers who felt this way either. We had conversations with a number of other campers who had experienced similar negative interactions with the staff. The overall feeling seemed to be that people were walking on eggshells and constantly looking over their shoulders rather than being able to relax and enjoy their holiday.

It’s worth saying that there are also people who live on the site, and everyone we met was extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful — so this is definitely not a reflection of them.

It’s such a shame because we genuinely would have loved to have made this our new yearly camping destination. The site itself is lovely, but unfortunately the frosty and uneasy atmosphere created by the staff completely overshadowed the positives for us. Sadly, because of this, we won’t be returning.

Ik was niet blij met Bar prices way too expensive twice the price of drinks back home ! Then for example they say bingo but fail to tell you only on Sunday night! Plus music quiz night we had to leave before our hearing was damaged permanently!

We do have a small on-site bar, exclusively for guests staying on the site. As it is only open during May half term and the summer holidays, we do not have the same buying power as large chains or busy local public houses. Despite this, we always aim to remain competitively priced within the local area.

We would also like to clarify the entertainment information. Bingo is advertised on the main entrance door when guests first arrive for check-in, on the entrance to the bar, and again near the till. A text message is also sent to guests on the morning of each entertainment evening. The same applies to our quiz nights.

Our quiz night is advertised as a music quiz, where teams are asked to name the song, artist and year, along with some TV theme tunes and children's cartoon themes. The particular evening you attended received a round of applause from those taking part, and we were pleased that the majority appeared to enjoy it. The quiz is free to enter, with a £25 food and drinks voucher awarded to the winning team.

We are also located on the main road between Newquay and Perranporth, so guests are aware of the road location when booking.

Finally, regarding the Wi-Fi rating, we are unsure why this was scored so highly as a negative when we do not advertise Wi-Fi as a facility. The fact that Wi-Fi is not available is clearly stated on both Pitchup and our own website, so this should be apparent before booking.

We appreciate that Perran Quay may not be the right fit for everyone, but we hope this provides some clarification for anyone considering a stay with us.
