  • Family-friendly park 10 minutes' drive from Newquay
  • Covering 56 acres including a dedicated dog area
  • Pool, play zones, clubhouse and fish and chip takeaway
There’ll be plenty of time for monkey business in this family-friendly site… Surrounded by a whopping 56 acres of countryside and a fab place for taking toddlers, Monkey Tree Holiday Park is 10 minutes from Perranporth and its huge open beach, as well as the lively surf centre of Newquay. As you might already (luckily) know, the north coast of Cornwall is tiptop for beaches – Newquay's famed for its world-class waves and heady nightlife, while Perranporth has kayaking and hovercrafting to get adventurously stuck into, and top-notch coastal walks on either side of the beach. Back at base, catch a few pages of your book while the kids splash about in the outdoor heated pool complex… or while they join in with the packed entertainment schedule for juniors (there's a talented in-house entertainment team on hand with a daily kids' club and Funky Monkey putting in a regular appearance). On top of that, a maze of net walkways, slides and ball pools means that younger guests will have plenty to keep them entertained, whatever the weather. Food's sorted with the on-site clubhouse and restaurant, and fish and chip takeaway (fish and chips + seaside = essential). Or fire up the barbecue instead: hit up the camp store for the essentials, or head to the grocery store 10 minutes away.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Our pitch was one of the better locations on the site but my sons pitch was a disgrace, hemmed in like cattle.

Disliked Constant banging of loud music across the whole site all day and we were furthest away from amenities. The poor availability of the swimming slots for our grandchildren.

Liked Clean, well laid out site, close to beaches, all amenities you’d need

Disliked Pool availability was very poor, massively limited due to hot weather (somewhat understandable) but having checked on pool booking a week and again the day before it was very annoying. Potentially the main reason to book here, but only allowed 1x2 hour timeslot for a 4 day break is appalling. Food pricing is prohibitive too, £4.50 for a cone of chips is robbery!

Facilities don’t seem to match capacity when it’s fully booked

Electric grass pitch

Liked Outside heated pool,
A brilliant well stocked shop on site,
Reasonable sized pitch’s,
Great park for the kids.
Descent location.

Disliked Pitch,s was badly maintained ie grass was too long especially if you dropped something small you had a job finding it,
Pool grass area was also badly maintained ie thistles and long grass.
Showers was VERY hot in fact too hot, couldn’t regulate temperature, pool was disappointing for kids you only get 2 hours in the pool as its time slotted.
Not enough water tap points.
Site did have certain areas for the WiFi but we couldn’t get on for love or money where we camped,

Electric hardstanding and grass pitch (premium)

Liked We had an absolutely brilliant time! We left a day early because unfortunately we were all struggling with the heat! It had literally every single facility that was needed and we will definitely return!

Disliked I wouldnt say dislike it was just a shame we couldn’t spend the day at the pool! I understand there was such a lot of people it would be unrealistic to expect to stay longer than our timeslot but its something I honestly didnt think about prior to booking!

Electric grass pitch

Liked The campsite has great infrastructure and facilities however... read the disliked.

Disliked The biggest disappointment was the pool management, which was completely disorganized. On the day we arrived, we were told that no reservation was required and that we simply needed to arrive during the scheduled session times. The following day, we were denied entry because we had not made a reservation. The next day, we arrived early to book, only to be told again that reservations were not necessary, and we were given wristbands to enter. The day after that, we followed exactly the same process, waited around 20 minutes in line, and were denied entry because we supposedly needed a reservation.
This was extremely frustrating, especially for our children, who were ready and excited to use the pool.
After we and probably many others complaining about it, we received an email explaining the new pool policy:
2-night stay: maximum of 1 pool session
Up to 7-night stay: maximum of 2 pool sessions
Up to 10-night stay: maximum of 3 pool sessions
Up to 14-night stay: maximum of 4 pool sessions
Honestly, this makes it almost impossible to enjoy the pool facilities during your stay. This policy should be made much clearer before booking.
In addition, the shower in the bathroom near the food court only had cold water.
The shower in our block was also not functioning properly. The showerhead was missing, leaving only a hole in the wall where water came out, making it very uncomfortable to use.
Overall, the campsite has good facilities, but the poor organization and lack of clear communication regarding the pool significantly affected our experience.

Local attractions

Cornwall’s coastline and beaches are pretty much legendary, but Newquay (10 minutes) is world-famed for its surf and nightlife too. It’s a party town from daybreak until well after dark and the surf's so good they hold international competitions here – check out Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay. Perranporth (10 minutes) is the place to head for a more relaxed beach day, though it’s very popular so best to get your towel down early. The beach here is a fab spot for dog walking, rolling up the trousers for a paddle or lazing around and copping a look at the views. The Eden Project (35 minutes) has the UK’s most realistic rainforest, full of rare plant species and exotic butterflies, as well as a pretty nifty Mediterranean biome. Daredevils can also have a go on England’s longest zipwires here.
