Carvynick Holiday Park: Views from the pitches

General

  • Family park with easy access to main Cornish attractions
  • A 10-minute drive to the world-famed surf of Newquay
  • Bar and restaurant with beer garden

Surf! And a bar, and a beer garden – and easy access to Cornwall's famed attractions like the Eden Project 14 miles away: you might want to stay at Carvynick Holiday Park for quite some time.

A 10-minute drive from the world-famed surf and the surf schools of Newquay, Carvynick is set in Cornish countryside among spectacular scenery, and centrally located for easy-drive day trips to the likes of St Austell, the Eden Project, Newquay Zoo, Bodmin Moor and the Clay Trails.

In between days out exploring the local land, have an afternoon or evening in the Fox's Revenge, the Carvynick bar and restaurant dating back to the 17th century (as this establishment is separate from the holiday park, you'll need to check directly with them for opening times and availability; it's a popular spot so booking ahead is strongly advised).

Carvynick is pet friendly.

Really well placed for most attractions in North Cornwall. Mostly level pitches with excellent views over the countryside. Fully serviced was good and price OK if a tad expensive. Showers were generally good although needed renovation even if it was just a good paint and sort out of the shower floors. Reception looks awful and the office was only open via a window (half opened) presumably for COVID reasons although the staff were friendly and helpful.

    Disliked:

During our six days the showers (these are rooms with shower and toilet combined - nice and private and warm with lots of room) were not cleaned once. No paper towels to dry hands with and limited toilet paper. As people are generally thoughtful they cleaned up and mopped up most of the time - but some were not and this put a dampener on start of the day.

We know the pub is not connected to the site, but it was a draw for us. On a cold and dark night with ventured to the pub for drinks and to look the menu/eat. It was hard to know if it was colder and darker inside or out. Indifferent staff and expensive indifferent food finished off our evening.

From the manager...

Thank you for your review.
We are glad you enjoyed your stay and the views over the countryside.
You are correct, we unfortunately do not open the main office for persons other than staff/personal. We are glad that you found us friendly and helpful.
Our cleaners usually leave the facilities clean and tidy. But we are unable to clean after each guest. During your stay there were a few days of rain, which might explain why you did not always find the facilities as clean, as it just needs a few people to walk in and out with wet shoes for the floors to look dirty. This is why we have supply a mop/bucket in each cubicle.
With regards to the on-site pub restaurant The Foxes Revenge, we suggest that you forward your comments onto them directly as this is a separately managed establishment.

Great little site. Clean and easy to use. Easy to get to from the A30 and only 10 mins on the bus to Newquay.

    Disliked:

One of the lady’s in reception. One lady called me around 3pm to see what our ETA was and she was really nice, really polite. I called back at around 4:20pm to give an update on our ETA and spoke to a different lady who was came across as miserable as sin.

From the manager...

Thank you very much for your review.
Regarding your comment in disliked, we do not quite understand how the lady you spoke to didn't come across very polite. We didn't feel that way at all. Our network connection was down on Friday and we had problems understanding and communicating over the phone.
We are pleased you liked the site and its location and hope to see you again in the future.

Staff were really friendly on arrival.
Pitch was great, level ground and had everything we needed; power, water and a picnic bench. Our pitch also had gorgeous views to wake up to.
The showers and facilities were really clean and it was great to have shower, sink and toilet in one lockable space.

    Disliked:

We liked the fact there was a pub on site but it was actually closed for a private function and so disappointed we didn't get to visit there as it looked lovely.

From the manager...

Thank you for this review. We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay and liked your pitch and our shower facilities. We are sorry that you were unable to have a meal at the Fox's Revenge. Should you consider another stay with us, we recommend to check the pub's opening days and times and book ahead to avoid disappointment. We hope to see you again in the future.
