  • Bar and restaurant with beer garden

Surf! And a sauna, and a bar, and a spa – and easy access to Cornwall's famed attractions like the Eden Project 14 miles away: you might want to stay at Carvynick Holiday Park for quite some time.

Ten minutes from the world-famed surf and the surf schools of Newquay, Carvynick is set in Cornish countryside among spectacular scenery, and centrally located for easy-drive day trips to the likes of St Austell, Newquay Zoo, Bodmin Moor and the Clay Trails.

In between days out exploring the local land, bask among the plentiful and well-maintained site facilities: loads is here to keep all out of mischief, including a heated indoor pool, a sauna, hot tub and spa, a badminton court, an indoor sports hall and a gym.

Carvynick is pet friendly.

From the manager...

Thank you for your feedback, we're glad you enjoyed your stay.

Our fully hard standing electric hook up pitches have decking on one side and then grass the other for an awning. If specified when booking, we can select a pitch that matches the side for your awning.

We hope to see you again in the near future :)

Lovely site and great staff. Was a last minute booking to try out our new camper. Lots of space for our awning.

Toilets and showers you get a key for (£5 deposit refunded once key returned) talk about 5* luxury - the best we have seen!

Spa looked great (although we didn't get chance to use it) - but we will next time we visit.

    Disliked:

Unfortunately we got a puncture on the way home (not the sites fault) - wouldn't of happened if we'd have stayed on.. Must have been a sign!

From the manager...

Hi Angus,

We're glad to hear you enjoyed your hear.. but not so happy to hear about the puncture!

Hope to see you here again soon :)

    Very clean toilets and facilities.
Not very busy (during May/June half term holiday).
    Lovely view.

    Disliked:

Advertised as being able to park the car next to the tent...was not true. So if you were hoping to use an inverter to power 240V from your car...forget about it!

You do get some noise from the A30, so if you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs.

From the manager...

Thank you for your feedback - we're surprised to hear you didn't think it was busy as we were nearly full.

With the tent pitches, we allow cars to go down onto the pitches to unload and then ask that you park in the car park, only a two minute walk from the pitches as the weather is unpredictable and we have had cars that have got stuck on the grass. We're surprised to hear though that you could hear the A30 - we pride our selves on this being a quiet and peaceful site.

We hope that you do visit again.

    Pool, views and location.

    Disliked:

Lack of awning space for a VW camper (we were lucky that the site wasn't full so we managed to get the only bay that could accommodate a side awning) and geared mainly to larger RV vehicles. There was no park for the children (advertised as having play area but that was a small field that had a marquee on it when we stayed), plus there was a lot of through traffic to the pub in our area (many ignoring speed restrictions), and too few showers.

From the manager...

Thank you for your feedback. We glad to hear you enjoyed the pool and liked the location and views.!

All of our hard standing pitches are from 34ft - 45ft long, all with decking one side and grass the other, which we feel gives plenty of space for awnings. We have a mix of left and right sided to suit all campers, RVs and tourers. Where the swings are we are looking at having a new play area put in. We do monitor traffic through the site and the speed, so we apologise for this. The shower block on the bottom pitches is brand new, and we feel is enough for down there, as the top part of the park have their own seperate shower facilities.

We hope that you visit again, once the new park is here.

Very impressed with the site! Would highly recommend it to anyone, but especially groups of friends travelling together.
The shower block closest to the pitches was well equipped, with "en-suite" type facilities (shower, toilet and sink in individual rooms). The showers were always hot, sometimes a little too hot for me, but nothing to complain about! :)
The leisure facilities were great, the pool and hot tub were a welcomed wind down after a days surfing.
The pub/restaurant on site was lovely. The food was incredibly good and they had a number of local beers and spirits on offer, as well as the usual drinks, at fair prices.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Even when they had concern that one of us hadn't booked/paid (problem with the online booking system and not the site's issue), they were very polite and handled the situation with curtousy. When shown proof of the booking, they went away to deal with the problem their end and even apologised to us for the mix up.
We had a small fire each evening, contained within a BBQ and kept under control, and were playing music. They asked us to turn the music off after 11pm, which we thought was more than fair.
Overall, this is a very good site and we will definitely be returning next year!

    Disliked:

The leisure facilities were £15 extra for the week and this doesn't include the sauna, which is another £3 per person per use. It might be a bit fairer to increase the leisure price a little and include sauna use?

From the manager...

Hi Ian,

Thank you for your feedback. We're happy to hear that you and your friends all enjoyed your camping experience here at Carvynick.

We've take on board your comment about the Sauna, whereby you can pay a little extra to add the sauna onto your leisure pass, now giving guests the opportunity to either choose the standard leisure pass or have the added extra of the Sauna.

We look forward to welcoming you in the near future.

Stayed here for a month in our 32' fifth wheel. Lovely big pitches, fantastic pub and restaurant on site. A proper pub and restaurant too, with good wines, ales, a selection of gins and quality tonics. Food is excellent and locals come from all over to eat there. You need to book Fridays and Saturdays as they get busy but otherwise you can just stroll in. There's a great badminton court, an indoor pool that's like a bathtub and a very good jacuzzi. Part of our stay was over the easter holidays and even when it got very busy here it didn't feel cramped. Wifi is good, my phone and my mobile data SIM card both get 3-4 bars of 4G signal. Even the TV reception is good. It's about 9 minutes drive into Newquay and it's perfectly placed to get to Truro, St Austell and loads of other places. You're just about far enough from the main road to not hear it but still access it and get all over Cornwall quickly. The staff have been very friendly and accommodating, there's a little golf course on site too if you're into that (we aren't!). Loved our stay and will be back.

    Disliked:

Wish there was a gym, even a small basic one.

Great site with lovely views over to Newquay 19/04/2017

The pitch we were assigned over looked the fields. daily visits by the cows made for some fun with the family. One morning the cows even wandered over to the near-by fence and the kids stroked a cow.
The much awaited new toilet block was well worth the wait. Ok, it could do with some improvement, the floor stays wet. A simple floor squeegee to dry it would make a huge difference. However, the shower cubicles were huge and the rooms were a good size too. You need a key to access the showers, which also had a toilet and sink in each room. The key was secured by a £5 refundable deposit.

The site was well landscaped with the grassy areas well maintained.

The kids pool was a 12x6m affair but sufficient. It was deep too, ranging from 1.2m to 2.4m There was also a kids pool attached, but toddlers would need to be supervised as the two pools are connected and they could "wander" into the main pool.

The Jacuzzi and sauna were also in the pool complex. Kids are allowed in the Jacuzzi but not the sauna.

There is a viewing area for parents who want to chill and keep an eye on the kids.

There is also a badminton court in case you want a game.

Most pitches had a deck area with picnic table which is a nice touch.

Services were conveniently placed on pitch and unusually grey and chem waste were serviced on pitch by the same outlet.

The onsite Pub [Fox's Revenge] was handy to have though we never used it!

    Disliked:

Access to some of the pitches was just a little tight and awkward. There could be a bit more space to allow reversing the outfit onto the pitch.

It would have been a bit nicer to have the decking and picnic table on the door side of the 'van but that is not a big issue.

Had to pay for WiFi, but good level of 3/4G signal available!

From the manager...

Thank you for your feedback, we are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay and found everything here that you needed. Upon booking if you advise us which side you would like your decking on we can aim to put you on a pitch with the decking the same side as your door. Also when booking if you advise us what type of unit you have, we can aim to put you on a pitch where it might be easier than others to access. Unfortuanately because the Wifi is through an external company it is chargable although I do believe there is free Wifi in the pub. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future :)
