General

  • Friendly site in a tree-filled valley near Bodmin Moor
  • Well-maintained and peaceful park in a wildlife haven
  • Easy drive to both coasts and five minutes' ride to the Camel Trail

Escape with a break to Ruthern Valley Holidays... At this friendly site in a tree-filled valley near Bodmin Moor, the emphasis is on making the most of the natural surroundings - think birds and rabbits rather than bingo nights, and a gently meandering stream instead of the boom of a disco bar.

The site is carefully laid out to offer visitors the maximum space and seclusion possible. Kids will have a blast roaming around the woods building dens and wildlife spotting, chatting to the resident chickens and pigs, and bouncing around the leafy playground area.

Ruthern Valley Holidays also has a licensed shop selling bangers, other local goodies and some essential camping gear. Other amenities include solar-heated showers, toilets, a laundry and washing-up facilities.

Friendly people. Nice shop with all supplies available.

    Disliked:

Difficult to find through narrow country lanes. Recommend for summer visit as rather damp amongst woodland in winter. Please level off the pitches - a common mistake in camps.

From the manager...

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry you don't like the narrow lanes. Interestingly, the review below complimented us on the level pitches! We hope you find something more to your taste next time. And thank you for the five stars on everything you could rate. We appreciate it very much!

The quietness of the site, the friendly pig that escaped its pen, wildlife. though we never needed it for our one night stay, a useful shop for the basics.

4 stars given for toilets and showers even though they are kept clean some improvement could be made.

    Disliked:

From the manager...

Pigs can certainly be quite clever escape artists! Both weak spots in the fence have been reinforced now. And yes, we do have upgrades planned at the shower block. This winter one of the old showers will be transformed into a new family bathroom. Thank you very much for your review and we hope we'll see you again.

    Disliked:

The wifi was patchy and I couldn't get a mobile signal. However it did us all good to get off our devices so not really a biggy!

From the manager...

Many thanks for your lovely review. We're glad you had a good time and could see so much of the area. We hope we'll see you again, and then mention the WiFi and mobile signal to Andrew. He might be able to help. We are in a valley, but generally WiFi and mobile signals are OK, so Andrew might be able to point you in the right direction. Your review means a lot to us. I had 3 children with me 8 years to 14 years, 8 year old love running around making friends and did not hear a peep out of him. If you older children love their electronics I would recommend electric hook up so they can charge their phones.
