What can I say! Amazing. Jen, Emily & all of …07/09/2021

What can I say! Amazing. Jen, Emily & all of the team that make Aldingbourne happen are absolute stars! We have been visiting Aldingbourne as members with our children for over 6 years now, enjoying day visits to see the farm animals, use the ride on tractors and explore the woodland area, so when I found out they were now offering camping I jumped at the chance & booked us in for 2 nights from 25th Aug. We were greeted by such a warm welcome and felt so looked after by them. They made sure we had everything we needed and checked in on us at the end of each day.
The Aldingbourne centre is a beautiful place to spend time and the food in the cafe is so delicious and fresh! As campers we had full access to the whole centre which also included any activities they had on during our stay, which is a massive bonus.
Where else can you book in to camp & get to experience falconry displays, handle & learn about reptiles or visit a farm all inclusive!
The field they used for the pitches was very well looked after, clean and safe.
Once the centre shut to the public we still had access to the ride on tractors, mini golf and the wooden train which the kids always enjoy playing on. The indoor soft plays were open 24/7 because they were in the same building as one of the shower blocks and multiple toilets. This was so handy because it kept the little ones busy after dinner.
One of the highlights for my girls was for us to be able to explore the Maze in the dark with their torches and also the woodland area! Walks in the woods at night is something they have never experienced before and it felt safe because we knew it was all enclosed on the Aldingbourne site.
One of the biggest things that was very apparent was just how passionate the staff are about the centre & how best they can support the people who use the services there to gain so many amazing skills.
They were always so upbeat and happy and so very kind. Their aim was to make our camping experience the best it could be and they definitely succeeded. I would highly recommend Aldingbourne, not just for the camping experience but also for a day trip, to get to experience a wonderful and relaxed day out for all the family.
Jen and Emily always took the time to ask us how we felt they were doing, if we felt they could they make any improvements etc…they told us they had great plans to move the the camping to a slightly bigger field on site so they can offer a few more pitches, and here they would build a new wash up and shower block facility. They were so keen to have our ideas and feedback. This will be absolutely amazing and can only improve things even more for when visit again in 2022!
Thank you so much for making our girls first family camping experience so memorable and keep up the fantastic work you do.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Small camp site with no dogs. Access to site activities and soft play (which was the children's favourite) all day and night, which was great after 4 pm and early morning when adults want to relax and the children don't mind because they can play. Felt enclosed and safe for my children to play in without me watching them like a hawk. Recycling bin, water tap for drinking near tent, fire pit and great food (especially the carrot cake and sausage rolls) in the café. Large family shower fitted us all in, which was much easier when washing my children and myself.

    Disliked:

Not allowed to take your own gas BBQ. Only one shower and washing up sink. No facilities for food or drink after 4 pm, unless you go out in your car. Car cannot be parked next to tent, although it's not far away.

The site was clean and well organised. The clean toilets and showers a real treat when camping. All the kids ended up playing games together - a really lovely experience for all of us. Waking up to the farm animals really made it special - and available all day within the price of the pitch - what a bargain!

Good welcome and explanation of the site; electric hook up and fire pit being provided was a big part of the appeal for this site. We really liked having use of the centres fun activities outside of hours, the kids loved the woodland walk by torch & the soft play when it was just them, as they are a bit big for it really when others are there. The farm was great & hearing the peacocks calling the morning alarm was a nice touch. The site had all the basic facilities in close distance, they were well maintained and clean. Pitches were a good size and spacing, but with a fairly intimate and exclusive feel being a small site. We will definitely camp here again as we know it works for us.

    Disliked:

Would have liked until 11am to clear the site instead of 10am, as there was condensation still on the tent as we put it away (though if it rained it would be a similar issue!)
The ground is pretty hard with I guess a lot of flints & pegs were hard to get in. Probably not an issue for more regular campers who have some additional kit, but many pegs were bent!

From the manager...

Thank you so much for all of your feedback and taking the time to review us.

We very much appreciate your feedback, as this will help us to improve for next year.

We would like to say a huge thank you for staying with us, as your support really helps make a difference to our charity.
