  • Small and peaceful adults-only site in the Kent countryside
  • A 25-minute drive to Rye; several vineyards close by for tours
  • Fishery next door with bar and food; walk to local pub in 10 minutes
When you stay at Field End Campsite you’ll be sharing the space with the chickens and ducks that live here, and just a handful of other guests… but no kids, as this Kent site is an adult-only setup that’s all about letting the grownups have a bit of chillout time. This rural location (about 15 minutes’ drive from Ashford) is a particularly fine spot for a break if you’re into your fishing – there’s a fishery just next door, with a couple more within a 15-minute walk/five-minute drive. Meanwhile, cyclists can pedal along quiet country lanes and there are plenty of places to get out for a walk nearby too (and you’ll be welcome to bring your dog along if they fancy a Kent countryside walk too…) Only planning to walk as far as the pub? That shouldn’t take long, as the nearest one is only about 10 minutes away on foot. There are four more pubs within a five-minute drive if you’d like to mix things up a bit, or you could pick up supplies at the farm shop just outside the local village of Bethersden (five minutes’ drive) and get your barbecue going back at base. There’s also a butcher and grocery shop in the village, with bigger supermarkets over in Ashford if you need them. Facilities on site include wifi, a washing-up area, toilets and a solar-powered shower. The fishery next door has a bar and serves hot food if you don’t fancy doing your own barbecue.

Tasha bell tent

Liked: Karen and Richard were really lovely hosts. The facilities were great, as promised it’s a small adult site. We went with two other couples, one in a tent and one in a camper, and we stayed in the bell tent they provide. Everything was very clean and cosy. We went in terrible weather but the bell tent had more than enough space for us to sit in and play cards etc. The facilities were really clean and cosy, and was nice the site was lit up for walking over. It’s also privately gated which you get a key fob for, so feels very secure and all of your belongings. While we were there, it was a storm with winds and rain but as it’s all hedged in we had minimal effect on the tents. Also have additional facilities of bbqs and for pits and a large space to sit outside under shelter for all plots. The bell tent itself comes with everything you would need, also provide tea and coffee, fresh eggs. Kept us really warm and dry even in torrential rain for majority of stay.

Disliked: Would recommended in the bell tent a matt for the opening of the tent on the muddier days to keep boots on just to protect the carpeting in there and the same for the toilet area to have a matt to wipe off most the mud to prevent going anywhere.

Liked: We loved the camp ground as it was so beautiful with the duck pond and all the space! The couple that owned the grounds were so so kind and helpful! Myself and my boyfriend had never been camping before and we needed a little extra help with things and they were more than happy to help us with fire wood and lending us a pump to blow up our air mattress! Was lovely to sit on the swings and chat with Richard’s wife and joke about our lack of camping skills! They also have the cutest doggies ever! Would defo come back and spend the night, next time with a bigger tent and an airbed with a pump! Thanks for having us x

Liked: We enjoyed the very outdoor feel and very nice surroundings. It is a small quiet site with basic facilities that are kept very clean. The hosts are very friendly and helpful and gave us help with local advise and recommendations. We enjoyed the local pub, the Pig and Stye, the food was great. We will return in the future.

Disliked: No dislikes but would warn people that the shower is outdoor with just a curtain for modesty, the WC is a timber shed and the washing up area is open to the elements.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave a review with your kind words. As we have only been open since August Bank Holiday, we hope to be making some improvements to the site over the Winter. An indoor shower and a roof over the washing up area is planned. We hope to see you again.

Liked: Lovely quiet area, very clean surroundings. The hot outside shower is a first for me, but I really enjoyed it. Richard and Karen (the owners) are extremely nice people and very welcoming. Lovely place to stay if you don't want crowds or children running around. Very Dog friendly as Karen runs a dog training group. Not sure about the Wi fi as we didn't ask, just used our own 'hot spot' which worked fine. Thank you.

Liked: The site was wonderful. Very peaceful. The grounds we well kept. We stayed in the Bell tent and all the added extras made it extra special. The host was extremely helpful and welcoming.

Disliked: The only thing I would change would be to have a curtain or screen around the shower area for privacy.
