What customers say

Spacious, well-maintained pitches and clean facilities, particularly the showers, are frequently praised. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, contributing to a positive atmosphere. The site's location is a significant draw, offering easy access to local amenities and attractions. While many visitors enjoy the on-site entertainment and activities, particularly for families, some report dated facilities and occasional cleanliness issues, especially during peak times. The Wi-Fi can also be unreliable for some.

Electric grass pitch

Liked The staff I encountered were friendly.

Disliked The showers/toilets were absolutely disgusting. Sign on the door states they’re cleaned twice a day, but sign in sheets showed they were cleaned once at 04:00, and even then they were in exactly the same state. Bins were overflowing. Mould and grime in every shower, even the shower curtains were like a science experiment. Does not look like the showers were cleaned EVER. Toilets were a Petri dish of bacteria. Every single one full of streaks and unflushed “deposits”. Men’s toilets were sickening.

I understand that if you choose to camp you open yourself up to noise - but we were woken each morning by screaming children before 06:00. Sites are well maintained, which was a plus, but the noise levels were just too much.

We landed up packing up and leaving 2 days early. We just could not continue with the facilities. Lots of money forfeited for substandard cleanliness.

Electric grass pitch

Liked A lovely site with plenty of amenities and a Lidl within a short walk of the park entrance. Very friendly staff and other campers

Disliked The ground was quite hard on the pitch but after the dry weather it was to be expected. We had to pitch towards the edge of the pitch as there was a large area that was just dusty ground but it was plenty big enough.

The showers were great in the morning but got intermittent during the day, and could have done with being cleaned/ serviced more regularly as the toilet roll ran out in both male and female toilets during the early evening/ late afternoon that weren’t replaced until what I guess was the first clean of the following day.

Electric grass pitch

Liked The electric tent pitches were very large leaving plenty of space between tents. The layout was really nice and we were close to the toilet and shower block.
Our children enjoyed the swimming pool and slide as well as the arcade. We also had fun at bingo.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked We stayed here with our campervan and had a great experience. The pitches are very spacious, giving us plenty of room to relax. The on-site bar was a nice bonus, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The toilets and showers were spotlessly clean. Highly recommended!

Disliked Some of the turns—especially the one below the pool—are quite blind and tricky to navigate with a larger vehicle like a motorhome.

Liked First time staying at lower hyde in a tent and had a fantastic stay. The reception team was very accommodating as we was put in a sunny pitch and we asked to be moved over into a shade area. Shower block and toilet was clean.

Local attractions

Aside from its fab beach, Shanklin also has a good variety of shops, seaside amusements and eateries, with some of the best examples of the latter to be found in the Old Village, a picture-perfect cluster of thatched cottages and winding streets. The Shanklin Chine is a lovely wooded gorge with waterfalls and nature trails, and is doubly atmospheric when it’s lit up on summer evenings. For those who like exploring by bike or Shank’s pony, there are miles of footpaths and cycling tracks around Lower Hyde Holiday Park. Some of the Isle of Wight’s most popular family attractions are nearby too, including Carisbrooke Castle, Dinosaur Isle and the Blackgang Chine theme park.
