Deerview Farm Respect Camping: Pitching field

General

  • Family-run farm site on the edge of the New Forest National Park
  • In Tiptoe, two miles from the centre of Sway or New Milton
  • Next door to a friendly local pub; dogs and barbecues welcome

'A field, a loo, a pub and some cows' is how the owners of Deerview Farm Respect Camping sum up what it's like at their site. If that combination's appealing pack your camping kit and head to the western edge of the New Forest National Park, where this small-scale family site in the village of Tiptoe has a spacious grassy field close to some of Hampshire and Dorset’s best woodlands, heaths and coastline.

There are lots of resident animals here, including Nelson the bull, Yorkie the ram and a bunch of other characterful cows, sheep and chickens. Classic camping activities like stargazing, birdwatching, having a kick-about and strolling to the pub next door are all easily arranged.

The site is within two miles of the peaceful village of Sway and the larger town of New Milton, both of which have railways stations, shops, cafés and supermarkets. You're also an easy 10-minute drive from Brockenhurst where you can hire bikes, watch donkeys and ponies walking through the streets or get up to outdoor activities at Tile Barn Outdoor Centre.

This no-frills site has serviced portaloos and a cold water tap with drinking water. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome. Barbecues are allowed too – for supplies, you can head just over a quarter of a mile down the road to the local farm shop.

Please note

Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

This site has no on-site shower facilities.

Absolutely everything. Was basic camping and exactly what we wanted! The pub next door was also great with a kids play area. So much to do and see around the area and the hosts were absolutely fabulous and amazing with our two daughters at feeding times!

We spent a night here with our 2 years staying in our roof top tent. The hosts were lovely. They rings a bell at 5pm meaning it's feeding time for the animals and followed with the opening of the Ice cream shop.

This is basic camping which was perfect for us. All you need is running water and a toilet which were both very clean. If you like to have a hot shower daily then this isn't for you but if you won't mind a wet wipe wash then this place is a must. Pub short away with play park for kids, farm shop within walking distance and beach a short drive away.

Would we come back. YES!! It's was perfect.

This place would be perfect for a few nights with your friends and there families as there is ample space for a game of rounded in the middle of the camping area. Pitches were spacious. Next time we will bring the older boys with us.

The hosts are a great couple. The location and pitch suited our requirements completely, as first-time campers. The wildlife was a welcoming change to simply been stuck indoors. The price is very competitive.

    Disliked:

Our pop up, two man tent, of which we have already upgraded.

From the manager...

Haha! Well, for first time campers, that night could've gone one way or another ... I'm so glad it went in the direction of a new tent and not a hotel booking!! Great having you ... karaoke next time!! 🤣

Just got back from a weekend away with the kids and dogs.
Absolutely brillant! From booking to leaving everything was so easy, steph and rob and their adorable baby and dogs were so welcoming, allowing the children to join in at feeding time, so they could feed the cows and sheep and even allowing them to watch the Sheering of the sheep!
Very basic, as explained in description but clean, which we wanted, well laid out and all explained on arrival.
I cannot fault in any way.
Thank you for a lovely weekend.

Just plain old fashioned back to basics camping, as it says in the ad, a field, a loo, a tap and a pub five minutes walk away. Quiet site with loads of space and really, really nice hosts. Certainly no pressure to pack up and leave on the day of departure.
    Portaloos were spotless.

    Disliked:

Not a real dislike but £5 for the dog was a little steep.

From the manager...

Thank you, Steven. I appreciate your comment about the dogs. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and that you did get a peak of that sun in the evening!
