  • Family-run farm site on the edge of the New Forest National Park
  • In Tiptoe, two miles from the centre of Sway or New Milton
  • Next door to a friendly local pub; dogs and barbecues welcome
'A field, a loo, a pub and some cows' is how the owners of Deerview Farm Respect Camping sum up what it's like at their site. If that combination's appealing pack your camping kit and head to the western edge of the New Forest National Park, where this small-scale family site in the village of Tiptoe has a spacious grassy field close to some of Hampshire and Dorset’s best woodlands, heaths and coastline. There are lots of resident animals here, including Nelson the bull, Yorkie the ram and a bunch of other characterful cows, sheep and chickens. Classic camping activities like stargazing, birdwatching, having a kick-about and strolling to the pub next door are all easily arranged. The site is within two miles of the peaceful village of Sway and the larger town of New Milton, both of which have railways stations, shops, cafés and supermarkets. You're also an easy 10-minute drive from Brockenhurst where you can hire bikes, watch donkeys and ponies walking through the streets or get up to outdoor activities at Tile Barn Outdoor Centre. This no-frills site has serviced portable toilets and a cold water tap with drinking water. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome. Barbecues are allowed too – for supplies, you can head just over a quarter of a mile down the road to the local farm shop.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Was kept communicated through email due to the bad weather and when arrived they were so lovely and welcoming. Basic field with washing up facilities, and could go and see and stroke the farm animals.
We left early and didn’t end up staying the night due to the storm and rain but would definitely go back again.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Does exactly what it said on the tin, quiet, friendly owners.

Disliked: Obviously you go there with eyes wide open. The facilities are very basic, especially without showers. This means that it's not realistically possible to stay for long. not a criticism at all, just stating fact. if showers were added it could be transformative.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. We appreciate showers may be a decider for people. We only open this season for three nights at a time, so many guests have a wet wipe stash to get them through! We are completely off grid and we feel the showers we could provide would not be to the standard we aim to offer our guests. We hope you will think of us if you come to enjoy your hobby in the local area again. S&R

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: What a lovely place to stay - simple with no frills but for us, that's what we want when we go camping - we do so to get away from it all. The farm is lovely, there are clean toilets, a tap with drinking water, plenty of space between pitches and a place to wash up dishes. I cannot rate Farmers Steph and Rob highly enough - they let children (and adults) walk around the farm with them every day at 5pm to meet their animals and feed them. We missed this as we were out and when I mentioned it to Steph, she invited my children to come and see the animals the next morning instead so we had our own private tour. She also left a birthday card by our tent for my son, whose birthday was whilst we were camping, after I'd also mentioned that - little touches of kindness that were greatly appreciated, we'll definitely be back. The location is also excellent - sandwiched between a kid-friendly, dog-friendly pub which does delicious meals and a farm shop, stocked with lots of delicious local produce. 15 mins drive from the coast, with lovely sandy beaches and lots of great places to explore.
