  • Peaceful Hampshire wildlife haven 15 minutes’ drive from Winchester
  • A 10-minute walk from the Watercress Line station
  • Views of the surrounding countryside
Head into the Hampshire countryside for a peaceful stay at Two Hoots Glamping Site – this quiet site close to the village of Bighton (about 15 minutes’ drive from Winchester) is set in a glorious countryside location with the chance to see amazing natural wildlife such as red kites flying overhead, rabbits, a friendly pheasant and glowworms. Spread out over four and a half acres on a hilltop, the pitch types have fabulous views across the surrounding countryside towards the South Downs National Park. There are plenty of walking and cycling routes around so you can get out to see more of that gorgeous greenery (perhaps stopping off at a local country pub along the way…). It’s also easy to walk from here to the Watercress Line station in Ropley for a steam-powered ride through the Hampshire countryside. Alresford, a pretty town with riverside walks and a range of pubs, restaurants and boutique shops, is also just a 10-minute drive away from Two Hoots Glamping Site.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Wow - what a find! My understanding that this fabulous site hasn't been open to those camping or motorhoming for very long, however I'm sure that the owners are going to enjoy a very successful business!. The location is very rural with great views across the Hampshire countryside however the marvellous Ropley Station on the Watercress Line is only a 10 minute walk away which gives you the opportunity to jump on the heritage railway and get yourself to the nearby towns of Alresford or Alton for good shops and good food. The facilities on site are of a very high standard and very clean, and the pitches are generous in size and well separated from neighbours. Would we go again? Most definately and thoroughly recommended however I'd rather keep this site a secret for ourselves really!

Disliked: There's nothing to dislike!

From the manager: Hello Shaun, I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay. We only opened up the main field c. 6 weeks ago with these new wildlife-friendly pitches. It does also give us a lot of joy to be able to share our site with our guests so they too can also get to experience all this setting has to offer. Hopefully you will book to visit us again in the future. Thanks for taking the time to write this lovely review. Best wishes, Michele

Electric grass pitch

Liked: We had the most peaceful stay here, the site has amazing views, it's is quiet and they do well to balance between us and nature. The facilities are the best we have ever seen, the kitchen is fantastic and especially for those in tents. The toilets and showers were immaculate with the site cleaning them at least twice a day! There is a petrol station with a Co-op that is a 40 minute round trip, walking and a village shop just a little further away. The park and ride into Winchester is about a 20 minute drive so there are places to explore if you can drag yourself away from the site. The WiFi can be a bit slow from the site and on your own devices but to be expected with the location and did not bother us.

Disliked: We were in our motorhome and had our own cooking facilities but the pitch next to us had a mini BBQ going, all very safe and in hand. The grass was very dry and the land owners next door did pop their head over the fence as they were concerned for the hay they are growing, understandable but we were asked to tell the pitch next to us to be careful which was all a polite exchange but slightly awkward. The land owners should have the site owners on speed dial for issues like this, when we get our booking confirmation it does state no fires or BBQs in dry weather but one persons opinion on "dry" differs from the next. It wasn't a huge issue but worth mentioning.
