  • Quiet Hampshire site with large grass pitches and easy road access
  • In the Test Valley, less than a mile from Stockbridge town centre
  • Wild-style camping on a low-key farm; firewood for sale on site
Time in the Test Valley is time well spent – this lovely pocket of Hampshire is well-known for its scenery, clear chalk streams and gentle pace of life, making it just the spot for a laidback camping break. Stockbridge View, a quiet site near the Test Valley market town of Stockbridge, is conveniently located just off the A30. This back to basics choice is within easy reach of Winchester (20 minutes' drive), Salisbury (25 minutes), Stonehenge (25 minutes) and Southampton (35 minutes). The pitches here are set over a flat and grassy area that's bordered by trees and hedgerows. You can pitch up wherever you like at this laidback farm spot, and all parts of the site are a few minutes’ walk from good basic amenities like a modern toilet and shower block and a chemical disposal point (please use green fluid). Campfires, barbecues and firepits are welcome here as long as they are lifted well off the grass. Handily, firewood is available to buy if you haven't brought your own fuel. Wood-fired pizzas, kebabs, pub food and a small supermarket are all available less than a mile away in Stockbridge town centre via a quiet bridleway. Please note that there's a clay pigeon shooting range half a mile away and therefore there may be some noise from that heard on site (mainly on Saturdays, but sometimes on other days).

Non-electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Large spacious site. After reading the vlog on pitch up was surprised to see there were bins and that the toilets were not unisex.all immaculately clean. There is access to a utility cabin with sinks for washing up for campers. There are 2 Elsan points one for disposal of waste treated with green fluid and one for blue.
A secure site with digital code reassured us that our motorhome was safe when we left it to visit family . Close to the town of Andover and all the facilities of a big town while being nestled in the Hampshire countryside.
We live full time in our motorhome and will certainly return to this site when we visit family who live in the area.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike in our view. Would suggest that the information about the site is updated as it would appear this has not been done since the pandemic.

Liked: Nice little clean site.

Non-electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: This is our second visit, we visited in the summer. It is a popular campsite with a nice walk into Stockbridge from the campsite. We didn't do it this time as the idea was to spend the weekend decompressing from work and recharging our batteries. We weren't disappointed, a few more hard standings, which we booked one. Lovely clean toilets and hot showers. Nice quiet site still a few braving the cold and sleeping under canvas. A nice touch the owner comes around and greats you. Love this place. We will be back!

Non-electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: We booked a hardstanding pitch and there were plenty to choose from. The whole site is non electric but this was just a one night stop for us so was fine and we knew this when we booked it. Very quiet site and very clean and tidy. Clean toilets and a washing up hut. Didn't use the showers so can't comment on then. Description on pitchup says no bin facilities but there is bins to dispose of rubbish so that's good. Easy access from road and code to get in to gate was easy to use.

Disliked: No dislikes at all.

Non-electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Really quiet, good hard standing pitches which are well spread out.
Clean and modern toilet and shower facilities as well as washing up shed. Good access (short walk) to Stockbridge. Can have a fire but might need your own brazier. Dog friendly.

Disliked: Slight road noise.

Local attractions

For greenery and gardens, try Houghton Lodge (five minutes' drive), a small-scale spot dating back to the late 18th century in a gorgeous riverside location. The grounds at Mottisfont (15 minutes), a National Trust-managed house and garden, may be a bit grander in scale, but they're in a relaxed country location and aren't too big for a day out with young kids. This part of the world has lots of military connections, so how about a trip to the Army Flying Museum (10 minutes), or to Winchester (20 minutes) and its regimental collections in Peninsula Square? Inspired to try a bit of target practice yourself? The Spitfire Shoot (five minutes) can sort you with clay pigeon sessions (mostly on Saturdays, but sometimes at other times too). A little bit further away there are world-class attractions like Stonehenge (25 minutes), a must-see when visiting this part of the world, as well as family-focused options like Paultons Park (30 minutes), a theme park, and the interactive exhibits at Milestones Museum in Basingstoke (30 minutes).
