  • Cosy, boho and family-friendly bell tents in the Sussex countryside
  • Drusillas Park 15 minutes’ drive; 20 minutes’ drive from beaches
  • Pop-up site with a pond; half an hour’s walk to the Cuckoo Trail
Looking for an unusual glamping stay in the gorgeous Sussex countryside? Hotfoot it over to Stay Wild at Westfield Farm, a rural pop-up site five minutes’ drive from Hailsham. What’s offered there is just a few cosily kitted-out bell tents, set in a peaceful wildflower meadow with spectacular views and abundant wildlife. With plenty of space between pitches and lots of room for kids to have a run around on the field, the campsite sits next to a quiet private runway. When you want to chill, listen to the birdsong, watch the butterflies flutter from flower to flower and enjoy the breeze through the grasses – it’s also very tempting to put your feet by the shaded pond and have a snooze, or lull yourself to sleep on the rope swing under the trees. Should you wish to get out and about in Sussex, there are country walks straight from the site, cycle rides in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (15 minutes’ drive), and beaches within 20 minutes by car. Based at Westfield, local company A Share of the Crop supports local farmers and Sussex-based producers, and can deliver cooking packs or fruit and vegetables straight from the farm to your bell tent. Barbecues, firepits and log baskets are also available for a small charge.

Stay Wild bell tent

Liked: Very warm and friendly welcome at check in from lovely hosts. The site is on a peaceful farm in the countryside; very pretty. I liked "the snug" with access to kettle, toaster, great shower and clean toilet, even a sofa! The bell tent was as beautiful as the pictures - it was lovely to not have to pitch my own tent and it was very cosy, even on a night of torrential rain. It had it's own table, chats and firepit outside.

Disliked: These are just personal niggles; *Long walk to the toilet and to the car when unpacking with a wheelbarrow *Compost toilet was nearer but no lights at all once dark * Very, long grass to wade through by tent, ankle to knee deep containing thistles. Was glad the children weren't with me! * whilst very excited to have a bed, the mattress was terribly uncomfortable and I hardly slept a wink both nights

Adventure Park (10 minutes) for fun-filled hours splashing about in rowing boats, playing crazy golf or climbing the giant wooden castle. For more oodles of fun, Drusillas Park (15 minutes) is one of Sussex’s most popular destinations for families, with lots of zoo animals to meet, play areas for the kids and fairground rides for all levels of bravery. When you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply feel like having a treat, book a vineyard tour at Henners Vineyard (20 minutes), where tastings of quality English wines are available.
