  • Well-maintained and peaceful adults-only site in the Forest of Bowland
  • A 10-minute drive to Clitheroe; half an hour to Skipton
  • Views to Pendle Hill and River Ribble; pubs within walking distance
Plenty of peace and quiet should be all yours for the taking at Bow Laithe Caravan Site – this small site five minutes’ drive from Bolton-by-Bowland has been set up specifically for adults only and doesn’t accept large groups, so you be assured of space to chill out without noisy disturbances. This is a splendid location for walks and cycling nearby, as it’s surrounded by lovely Lancashire countryside and just on the edge of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Once you’ve done extensive explorations of the forest, you can expand your horizons into the Yorkshire Dales National Park with a drive of half an hour or so. And it’s also a splendid location for taking in the scenery without having to even get up from your pitch: the site has views out over Pendle Hill and the River Ribble, which flows just past the park. If it’s just a short stroll you’re after, perhaps a wander to one of the two pubs within a 20-minute walk would fit the bill? Rather spend an alfresco evening on your pitch? You’re welcome to light up a barbecue to cook your dinner and warm your hands by – supplies can be picked up at the various supermarkets in Clitheroe, 10 minutes’ drive away. Kids may have been asked to stay away but you’re allowed to bring dogs along to share your break at Bow Laithe. When you arrive, please pick any free pitch and settle down for your stay.

Liked Beautiful site with gorgeous views, short walk to the river and a lovely stroll away from the Spread Eagle. Very well kept, great facilities and super sized pitches, well spaced out.

Disliked Right next to a road which was fairly noisy and busy at the time we visited.

Liked Stunning views, close walk to 2 pubs either way, close to Clitheroe and Skipton.

Disliked This is not the sites fault, but at 7am motorbikes whizz past down the country lanes waking you up and worrying of they come off the road there's only a bush between you.

From the manager: Very sorry about noise with motorbikes nice weather brings motorcycles out thanks kerry

Liked Beautiful area and great little site for Easter break, we even weathered Storm Dave.
Site has a portaloo, large waste bin, Elsan disposal point and fresh water tap, pitches are a good size and easy connection to electric hook up; nice walks around the area and pub not to far either.

Disliked Internet connection is not the greatest so we couldn't use the laptop for movies, however it wasn't a big issue.

Liked What a lovely little site. Really clean and easy to access. Despite being next to the main road, it was quiet and peaceful. Special thanks to one of the owners, Kerry, who, after we messaged let us go a little later. She was so friendly! It really helped us out so thank you! It is near our caravan storage here so I'm sure we will be back! Perfect for a last minute night away.

Disliked The internet connection was none existent BUT it isn't always a bad thing! We had some quality time without our phones! It is very basic, but we had a caravan so it isn't too much of a problem. We may have missed the rubbish bins, as my husband didn't find them.

From the manager: Morning glad you enjoyed your stay come again in summer its beautiful when the sun is out.
Sorry about the internet not the best a lot of people have to use mobile data.
The bin is situated the other side of Toilet and fencing its bright orange we just have one big one for all rubbish.
Thanks Kerry

Local attractions

Ready to give your walking boots a workout? Perhaps start with a trip to Gisburn Forest Hub (15 minutes’ drive) to pick up trail maps from the visitor centre, or try one of the trails in the Trough of Bowland (half an hour). While you’re over that way, you may like to drop in at the Bowland Wild Boar Park (half an hour) to meet a selection of animals. If you’d like to add a touch of history and culture to your walks, aim for the Pendle Sculpture Trail (20 minutes), or plan routes that take in the ruins of Sawley Abbey (five minutes) or Clitheroe Castle (10 minutes). Bancroft Mill Engine Museum (20 minutes) and Ribchester Roman Museum (25 minutes) are good options if you’d like to skip straight to the museums. Over in the Yorkshire Dales, there’s a whole lot more to explore, including waterfalls, caves and breweries. If you don’t know where to start, Skipton (for the castle and market) and Malham (for walks to Malham Cove and Janet’s Foss) are good options. Both are about half an hour away by car.
