  • Quiet site (no music or groups) in a rural location on a working farm
  • A 20-minutes' drive from both Blackpool and Lancaster
  • Forest of Bowland and Beacon Fell Country Park within 10 miles
You'll find reasons aplenty why this park is proving pretty popular with those seeking to pitch up in the north west: its position is pretty excellent, its vibe relaxed, and its team very friendly indeed. Poplar Grove Farm Caravan Park is a 160-acre working family farm, just 12 miles from Blackpool for those who like illuminating hols, and halfway between Lancaster and Preston for city sightseers. Even closer (and filled with pubs and restaurants), the old market town of Garstang is a couple of miles away on the River Wyre: river fishing ahoy… And for hikers, bikers and scenic view seekers, the unspoiled countryside of the Forest of Bowland and vistas of the Bowland Fells can be reached within 11 miles – or take yourself out into the surrounding Lancashire countryside: miles of walks and bike trails are all around. All guests have access to a modern toilet and shower block with facilities for washing your dog and their paws. The site also has a chemical disposal point.

What customers say

Poplar Grove Farm is consistently praised for its exceptionally clean and well-maintained facilities, spacious pitches, and friendly, helpful staff, particularly Summer. Visitors highlight the peaceful atmosphere, ideal for relaxation, and the child-friendly amenities including a play area and farm animals. The site's location is noted as convenient for exploring nearby areas. While generally very positive, some guests experienced minor issues with water pressure at busy times or found certain areas to be a distance away. There are also occasional comments regarding noise from other guests or dogs, and a lack of Wi-Fi or mobile signal, though many appreciate the digital detox. The site is highly recommended by repeat visitors.

Ainsworth Park electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch (adults only)

Liked My wife and I stayed here for our maiden trip in our new to us caravan. Its a beautifully well maintained site with very clean facilities. The pitches were large, well marked and evenly spaced. Nice little park for the children to play on and ample water points so not far to walk with your aquaroll.

Disliked Although this didn't effect us, there was only 2 washing up sinks available and i can imagine, during peak times, this could be an inconvenience. Upon arrival, there was no one on site to be able to instruct us as to where we were to pitch however the owner is contactable via phonecall.

Large Electric Grass Pitch electric grass touring pitch

Liked Everything! The pitch sizes were excellent and level. The whole site has a really big and open feel. Was extremely impressed with the toilet and shower facilities - they are luxury compared to others we have been to! Can have takeaways delivered to site if wanted and there is a pub couple miles away. Have to drive to shops etc but was no problem for us.
Loved that it is a quiet site. No noisy neighbours at stupid hours.
There is a vending machine which sells drinks and ice creams.
Was allowed a later check out which really appreciated. Would definitely visit again.

Disliked Nothing really!

Large Electric Grass Pitch electric grass touring pitch

Liked Honestly had the best weekend! Showers and facilities kept clean, plenty of kids around for my son to play with. Make sure to visit the milkshake place just down the road! Purchased logs from the store, the lady was so helpful and even sent a link so we could transfer the money.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Great peaceful site, very well maintained. Excellent clean toilets and showers, the music playing was a bonus with being a no music site.

Disliked Distance from pitch to water tap as the one located close didn’t work. Also advertised as having some animals onsite but this is no longer the case so disappointed children. There were never any eggs to purchase.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Good sized pitches, great shower and toilet facilities. Nice clean and tidy site. Easy check in and friendly staff. Ideal location with lots of places to see nearby.

Disliked Like many sites, lots of people who can’t stick to simple rules set by the site. Dogs off lead, unsupervised and we actually saw a dog fouling on the field where kids were playing whilst owners sat in their motorhome…weren’t watching it so didn’t clean up after it. There is a no music rule on site which many people ignored. This was not just visitors but seasonal pitches too. Didn’t spoilt it too much but just annoying when you stick to the sites rules and others can’t be bothered and think they don’t apply to them. Staff could do some patrols to make sure people stick to the simple rules. There was no WiFi available on site and mobile signal was non existent on several networks.

Ainsworth Park electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch (adults only)

Liked Nice level pitch. Not too far from the shower block. Friendly staff. Decent little fishing pond.

Disliked Poor water pressure at busy times in the showers.
1 tap covering 4 pitches so couldn't attach a water pipe.
The electric hook up point was miles away from the pitch so I had to go and borrow another 10m cable from reception.
No wifi/mobile phone reception very poor.
Only one Elsan point that was miles away from the pitch.
£10 per rod for fishing is very expensive.

Local attractions

Garstang (the world's first Fairtrade Town, food fact fans) is a few minutes' drive or two miles' walk from Poplar Grove and comes with seven pubs and three restaurants; have a duke too at the ruins of 15th-century Greenhaugh Castle overlooking the town. The village of Scorton, three miles from base, has a pub, garden centre, café, and restaurant: if you're around during the May bank holiday, roll along to the Bike and Barrows Festival and the Scorton Music Festival for wheelbarrow racing, sheep racing and other shenanigans. To the east of Garstang, the old hunting ground of the Forest of Bowland is now an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty landscaped by moorland, fells and valleys, with endless opps for walking, cycling, fell running and wildlife watching (not all at once, and look out for the hen harriers…). The Bowland Visitor Centre, with info on the area's activities and events, is in Beacon Fell Country Park. A 20-minute drive will land you at either Blackpool (south east) or Lancashire's county town of Lancaster (north), with a fair good time to be had at the former and a load of historical sightseeing available at the latter. Preston is about 25 minutes' drive south. To investigate a bit further afield, the watery wonders of the Lake District are about an hour's drive away.
