Beautiful, comfy, relaxing stay. Great location and excellent cabin.
Cabin
Liked The cabin was beautifully presented, very comfortable, clean, and made me feel at home. I found the space to be perfectly warm, but it was good to see a blanket and heater for those who might have found the wet weather to be a bit colder. The window brought in so much light and air during the day, but the space was also ever so cosy on an evening.
The bed and the seating were very comfortable, with the small dining table a nice addition for having meals. The small kitchen was perfectly equipped with everything and more for my 2 night stay. I ate out locally for some meals (King Billy and Black Cock Inn are great options), but the space was perfect for preparing breakfasts and a small evening meal. And lots of cups of tea.
The bathroom was warm and a very generous size, huge shower, and perfectly hot water throughout the stay. Very welcomed coming in from the rain.
The reliable Wi-Fi was a nice bonus and was really helpful to use my phone to plan the next day's activities and journey. But an equally nice touch was the FM/DAB radio for the times I wanted to be more disconnected but not in silence. I also really appreciated the folder with local insights, walks and directories left by the owner. The suggestions I tried were spot on!
The location of the cabin on a really quiet site was perfect for a peaceful get-away (although be prepared for the wake up call from the on-site chickens), but there were plenty of easy to reach attractions nearby. Silecroft Beach was less than 7 minutes drive, the town of Millom only 10-15 minutes for local shops.
It was nice to have a range of easy to hard walks on the doorstep. The weather kept me out of the hills, but the trip wasn't ruined at all by this - the Hodbarrow sea wall has a great level walk out into the estuary.
Time seemed to go so much slower on this stay, which was exactly the break I needed. Would 100% come back again.
