Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch (large)

Liked Perfect location and in a lovely open space as this was the first time I'd been camping in over 25 years!
Took to it like a duck to water straight away and felt very comfortable. I was with my partner and then met up with my sister and her family too.
Clean facilities, regularly maintained and looked after as well.
All the staff were really accommodating and the on site shop was really reasonably priced too.

Disliked I know it would have been really bad timing, but there was just a bunch of inconsiderate guys who just had absolutely no concept of time at night.
First night they'd stayed up until 3am Saturday morning and then 2am yesterday morning.
They were warned and told several times by the site staff and Duty Manager who also responded straight away to any concerns or complaints.
Those inconsiderate guys also threw something in the firepit that exploded like a loud firework!
This was at 12:30am!
There are signs visible to all residents to be quiet/ish by 9pm and silence by 11pm because most normal people go to bed no later than 10/10:30pm.
But...... it was not the Staff or Site's fault at all because they know that this is a family or couple's site that they can relax or enjoy anytime.

Beech Tree 2 bedroom lodge

Liked Absolutely perfect place, come for the alpacas, return for the hot tub. Honestly best hot tub I've ever used, perfect temperature, very clean.
Large caravan with great services.

Disliked WiFi was awful so none of the smart TVs worked. Ashley the smart TV in the living room was obviously on its way out because even the normal TV was slow to load.
I discussed this with the owners, it's a problem they are having with their supplier and it's the only supplier in the area.
We didn't mind very much, but we had young kids and they did 🤣

Non-electric grass tent pitch (small, two person)

Liked Fantastic rural rustic camping experience
The view of the mountain over looking the field is spectacular, lake is a 2 min walk either down a track or though a woodland by the river.
I had my 7 year old daughter with me & as long as you can entertain kids with outdoor activities they will love wasdale.

Porterloo’s and water taps on site.

Very friendly farmer looking after the site who will offer any assistance needed.

I will definitely be booking this site again.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked What a gorgeous little gem this place is! The surrounding views are absolutely stunning and make for a tranquil stay, away from the noise. The facilities were great and not a far walk from our pitch. The staff were so efficient in the ensuring the showers and toilets were cleaned on a regular basis.

The on-site shop provided anything you may have forgotten and serves lovely coffee too.

All staff were so pleasant and professional. It was lovely to chat to them in an evening. They also did the rounds on a buggy every hour or so to make everyone was happy.

We would definitely recommend to others and would happily come again!’

Local attractions

Sea fishing without a boat can be tried from the banks of the Solway Firth at Port Carlisle (half an hour by car); alternatively try your hand on the waters of Bassenthwaite lake, 25 minutes away. Bassenthwaite is a bumper spot for lake walks and if you're in need of fortification, there's a distillery at the northern end doing tours and tastings. If you're more of a high mountains type, paths up Skiddaw and Grisedale Pike start half an hour from the site. A real peak-bagger could rack up two national parks in a day round here; routes up Cross Fell, jewel of the North Pennines, start an hour away. Mountain bikers make for Whinlatter Forest Park (40 minutes) to hire wheels and try the UK's longest purpose-built tracks; the park's also popular with those seeking treetop thrills on the high ropes. It's a good place to test your mettle before scrambling along the via ferrata cableway at Honister Slate Mine, an hour away. For days down at lake level, you can be sailing, rowing or taking a boat cruise to the little islands on Derwentwater within half an hour; Ambleside, at the top of Lake Windermere with its steamers and watersports, is an hour's journey by car. To see some cracking coastline, it's half an hour to Bowness-on-Solway and Mayport, both good for nature-filled walks and Roman history.
