  • Small touring site in the north of the Lake District National Park
  • A 10-minute drive to Caldbeck and 15 minutes to Bassenthwaite
  • On the route of the Cumbrian Way, opposite High Pike and Brae Fell
Up at the northern edge of the Lake District National Park, about 10 minutes’ drive from Caldbeck, Howburn Farm Caravan Site is a small and peaceful site with glorious views across the surrounding landscapes from its touring pitches. This is a particularly good spot for those who like to hike, as it’s on the route of the Cumbrian Way and close to lots of the area’s famed Wainwrights – High Pike and Brae Fell are directly opposite the site, for starters. Heading further into the national park, you can reach Bassenthwaite and its lake with a 15-minute drive, or get to Keswick and Derwentwater in half an hour. The hardstanding pitches have water and electric hookups, and there’s access to a chemical disposal point but no toilets or showers. It’s a laidback spot where kids and dogs are welcome, and you’re able to bring along a barbecue or hire a firepit on site to keep you warm in the evenings as long as you keep the flames sensibly under control.
