What customers say
This is a popular campsite praised for its stunning location and breathtaking views, particularly of Blencathra. It offers ample space and a relaxed atmosphere, allowing visitors to choose their own pitches. Facilities are described as basic but clean and functional, including hot showers and toilets. While many appreciate the value and convenience for hiking and exploring the Lake District, some mention queues for facilities during peak times and the presence of sloping pitches in certain areas.

Loved it and would definitely camp again!
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Very peaceful, the toilets were clean and the showers very hot and powerful. Liked that there were fit pits available. Loved that there was a contact number for a reliable taxi to take us into the keswick for the night.
Disliked All the fields are quite sloped but you don’t notice much once the tent is up. Would’ve liked a shower curtain or deeper shower tray to keep the water in a bit more.

Great site with a quirky facilities barn
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked The views were great and the birds in the barn filled me with joy ❤️ Great base for accessing lots of amazing places.
Disliked Bit of a challenge with the number of toilets/showers. Luckily it wasn't too busy so didn't have to wait that long. In some ways it's amazing cos it's near the main road, but the car noise can be a bit imposing.

Basic amenities but beautiful location.
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked The campsite is very well situated just a 10 min drive to Keswick with all the supermarkets/restaurants you might want and there is a pub in the village of Threlkeld with bus connections to Penrith and Keswick. The toilet and washing facilities were clean and well stocked with toilet roll, washing up liquid and sponges and the showers have very good water pressure. Beautiful views! You can leave the campsite and walk the start of several routes up Blencathra.
Disliked The bin/recycling facilities could be improved as when we visited there was a truck parked outside the toilet facilities that everyone throws their garbage into. There are only 4 showers for the campsite so had to wait a long time on a couple days to shower.

This was our 2nd time here.…
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked This was our 2nd time here. We decided to return as we liked the location and facilities.
Disliked There seems to be no noise cut off restrictions. Other people playing loud music well after 1am. Also people smoking weed which isn’t ideal when you’ve got kids.
