What customers say

This campsite offers excellent, clean facilities with warm showers and good WiFi. Its location is highly convenient, a short walk to Kendal town centre and close to supermarkets. Pitches are described as spacious, flat, and private. Staff are consistently praised for being friendly and helpful. While most experiences are positive, some mention occasional noise from the rugby club and a lack of privacy in showers. Overall, it's considered good value with many returning visitors.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Great location, friendly staff, excellent facilities including a playground. They also served great fish and chips and cumberland sausages on Friday till 7.30 pm. There is also a good bar upstairs. They have a gym on site and you need to pay £5 to use it. The showers are communal, but this did not bother me. They also have family showers where you can lock the door. Aldi, Morrisons and Sainsburies are in walking distance or 3 min drive. I would come back to this campsite again!

Disliked Nothing.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked All the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The pitch was flat and comfy. Excellent shower facilities and WiFi. Where we were camped was tucked quietly away, but only a short walk across the pitch to facilities. I would highly recommend.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The lovely, flat ground with soft springy turf. The facilities for changing and showers. Great cafe onsite. Open 8am - 8pm. Great fries.

Disliked Would be good to have some water collection point a bit closer to camping area. Would be good if WiFi stretched to campsite too.

Local attractions

You may not be up for a full rugby match while you’re here, but there are plenty more ways to get active in the local area. The greens of Kendal Golf Club are five minutes’ drive away, or you could head to the adventure park at Brockhole on Windermere (20 minutes’ drive) for ziplines, archery and kayaking. While you’re at Windermere, try out sailing and other watersports – or just take a ride on an old steamer if you need something less energetic. Being on the edge of the Lake District there are of course lots of places to get out for a walk around here, but there’s also the option of seeing the scenery at a slower pace on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway (half an hour). Other days out nearby might take you to the imposing surrounds of Sizergh Castle (15 minutes), to learn about a former famous resident at World of Beatrix Potter (20 minutes) or to spot fish and other animals from around the world at Lake Aquarium (half an hour). If you don’t have kids in tow, you may also like to try a tour of Hawkshead Brewery (10 minutes).
