What customers say

Moss Howe Farm is praised for its beautiful, tranquil location and friendly, helpful staff. Visitors enjoyed the clean facilities, on-site shop, and food options like pizza. While many appreciated the peaceful atmosphere and spacious pitches, some noted minor issues with shower water pressure and the Wi-Fi signal. The site's rural setting offers great walking opportunities, making it a recommended choice for a relaxing getaway.

Electric grass tent or campervan pitch (premium)

Liked The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The shop had everything one would need and even great coffee to start the day.
The site was very peaceful and surrounded by sheep. The pitches were great, and great with fire pitch and picnic tables.
Locations worked well to explore southern part of Lake District.
WiFi available near reception area.

Disliked The electricity plug needed a converter which wasn’t available to buy or rent on site nor in nearby shops, so we couldn’t use it.
The washroom area could certainly have benefitted from some hooks for towels. There was not a single one. The showers could have had more hooks or a shelf.
WiFi didn’t always reach our pitch, but this added to the peaceful stay.

Electric gravel campervan pitch

Liked Facilities were excellent with helpful staff and clean site.

Disliked The very narrow road down to the site is a little challenging if you meet someone coming the other way therefore being a confident driver who is able to reverse when necessary is a must.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (medium)

Liked -The toilets and showers were clean and had hot water
-You can have fires
-There are walks you can do from the campsite
-Peaceful area and no light pollution so we could see a LOT of stars

Disliked -Pitches are very close together
-Even though we (myself and another family) booked nearly a year in advance we couldn't be placed together - was advised to call the campsite direct to request this in future though

Electric optional grass tent or campervan pitch (large)

Liked Brilliant campsite which is a firm favourite with our family. Makes camping feel luxury when you can get a really good coffee in the morning. The shop is brilliant if you have forgotten anything and they were so helpful letting us borrow an extension lead for the power supply.

Electric grass tent or campervan pitch (large)

Liked People, staff, facilities, area was great spot.

Disliked Just a little more space between pitches would be cool byt most people wpuld be happy with the space. and its hard pitching tent cause there are alot of stones and rocks under the grass so most people couldn't get pegs in properly.

Local attractions

A particularly scenic way to explore these surroundings is atop a horse, so make your way first to the Witherslack Hall Equestrian Centre, 10 minutes' drive away, for rides through the woods or on the local fell. A big sheltered arena is also at the centre if you'd like to practise your cantering first. If horses aren't for you, take to the car instead for the spectacularly scenic 25-minute drive to Windermere and Consiton Water via the A590, among the views of the east side of the lake to Bowness, Troutbeck and Ambleside. You'll need at least a day at Britain's biggest natural water lake, for steam ferry rides from Bowness Bay to Waterhead at Ambleside, or boating trips around the water and Windermere's 18 islands. Also have a potter around Lakeside Pier at the southern end of the lake (the ferry from Bowness finishes here), for the Aquarium of the Lakes showcasing Windermere's wildlife. Hikes, mountain biking and lake and mountain views are at Grizedale Forest, 35 minutes away.
