  • A five-minute drive from Cockermouth and 10 from Wordsworth House
  • Units have kitchens, double beds, shower rooms and seating space
Catch you at Cragg Farm Camping Pods – at the edge of the Lake District – for a Cumbria break with cracking views out over the northern fells. This park, around a five-minute drive from Cockermouth, has well-lit accommodation suitable for families or couples in peaceful surrounds with a wealth of walking trails nearby to suit all abilities. Each pod, built from Siberian larch to trap in heat, contains a fully fitted kitchen with a sink, a two-ring induction hob, an oven, a fridge-freezer and a microwave – essentially, the main bits and bobs you need for making meals. Other amenities include a generously sized shower room with a toilet and washbasin, plus fully fitted beds. Settle in at the dining table and chairs in the living space or spread out on a comfy corner sofa that turns into a double bed. Full insulation in the roof and floor, along with double glazing and underfloor heating, helps make sure your stay is as cosy as can be. While you’re indoors and toasty, switch on the LED lights and charge your electronic devices or flick on the TV. Outside, the pod has a spacious decked area next to a patch of land reserved for parking your car, so there’s ample room for alfresco relaxing. Need supplies? Cockermouth has numerous specialist shops for stocking up, including a butcher, bakery, greengrocer and fishmonger. There are also restaurants, coffee shops and bars.

Camping pod (bunk beds)

Liked We had a lovely stay at the Cragg Farm Camping Pod near Cockermouth. The pod was cosy, clean and comfortable, making it a great little base for exploring the beautiful Lake District.

The location was peaceful and surrounded by lovely countryside, which made it perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle and enjoying some quality time outdoors. Everything we needed was there, and the pod had a really welcoming feel.

Catherine, the owner, was really welcoming and such a lovely lady, and she had even put milk in the fridge for a cuppa when we arrived, also hot chocolate, tea, coffee, sugar & biscuits.

It’s also ideally placed for visiting Cockermouth and exploring the surrounding area, with plenty of beautiful walks and attractions nearby.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Cragg Farm and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful, comfortable and memorable countryside getaway. We’d definitely stay again!

Camping pod (bunk beds)

Liked The location of the pods is perfect, with lovely views and a seating area where you can enjoy breakfast in the morning sunshine. Being on a working farm adds a lot of charm — watching the sheep feeding and quietly minding their own business creates a peaceful, authentic atmosphere. The pods themselves were very clean, including all the utensils, which made settling in easy and comfortable. Although the site feels wonderfully remote, you can reach Cockermouth in just a few minutes, and the Lakes, mountains and even the coast are all easily accessible with a short drive. The host was very warm, friendly and welcoming, which made our stay even better.

Disliked I don’t really have any dislikes, as everything was exactly what you’d expect from camping pods. My partner mentioned that storage inside the pod is a little limited, but this is understandable — and since you can park right next to the pod, anything extra can easily be kept in the car. I didn’t miss having no Wi‑Fi at all, though it might matter for some guests, so I’m mentioning it here purely so the section isn’t left blank.

Camping pod (bunk beds)

Liked Had an awesome stay at Catherine’s farm in one of her pods. The pod is so well equipped and has everything you need, with really excellent attention to detail and organisation. My two kids loved it and cosied up together most mornings and evenings. The location was good for us as we love the north west lakes and reasonably easy to get to Keswick, Buttemere, Honister and Ambleside/Ullswater areas. Views from the pod are lovely. Catherine was so friendly and helpful. Will definitely visit again.

Local attractions

Being so close to the Lake District, there’s plenty to do while on a trip in this area. Wander around the National Trust’s Wordsworth House and Garden (10 minutes’ drive) for starters, the childhood home of one of England’s most famed poets, or point your compass towards wilder areas for ambling like Crummock and Loweswater (20 minutes). For challenging hikes, head up to Grisedale Pike (35 minutes); pedal pushers, meanwhile, should set off for the mountain bike trails in Whinlatter Forest Park (20 minutes). This spot also has a treetop adventure course and play areas for the kids. As a reward for all the roaming, have a jaunt to the Jennings Brewery Shop for tours and tastings (10 minutes). Or stick to the outdoors at the Lake District Wildlife Park (15 minutes), home to over 100 exotic animals, before rounding off your trip by checking out the views over to Scotland from the Solway Coast (45 minutes).
