Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Everything!!! What a beautiful clean site with great facilities and pitches. The staff were so friendly and very knowledgeable about the local area. Even the inclement weather didn’t dampen our stay !! The library was a great find on a rainy day. We will be back !!

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Lovely staff, lovely site..would definitely return.
I didn’t really get full use out of the site just used as somewhere to pitch up while I prepared for the Lap, so if I’m silly enough to do it again I’ll definitely use Skelwith only 25mins from the start of the Lap if any Lappers are looking for a place to stay won’t go wrong here.
Showers and Toilets perfect 👌

Liked This is a superb campsite, set in a beautiful location. The facilities really are excellent (lovely underfloor heating in the showers). A peaceful spot to set up base around lake windemere.

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Well stocked shop. Friendly staff. Clean and warm toilet / shower block (underfloor heating). Level campervan area. Very quiet site. Feels smaller than it is, because made up of smaller areas in woodland. 10 minute drive to Ambleside. I think there’s free wifi, although I didn’t use it as there was also good phone signal.

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Everything. Impeccable cleanliness throughout (facilities and general site), beautiful setting (woodland walks, a lake, nature hide for birdwatching, surrounded by natural beauty), very helpful and friendly staff (in the shop/reception but also driving about the site and willing to stop and help with practically anything!), fantastic walks, lots of space. Kids loved the various parks/adventure spaces even though it was raining! Shop was inviting and reasonably priced, very helpful map provided, plenty of water points and bins.
Washing up area is pristine, as is chemical disposal point! Toilets & showers are warm and spotless.
We could choose our own pitch- we probably should have fully driven about first but we were racing against the sunset!
Lovely and quiet, lots of wildlife, will 100% visit again but for longer.
It felt like a private, luxury holiday, despite being a ‘camping’ break.

Disliked Due to gravel/hard standing (which was very slightly slanted if being picky), there wasn’t anywhere to put an anchor ‘spike’ for the dog, who when tied to the railings went for an explore and got badly caught up in the brambles. No injuries, but almost had to call the warden to help due to sheer drop the other side!
There are no near toilet facilities if based close to the kids activity areas. We did choose this area in spite of that, but it was a little far for the kids to go without an adult.
WiFi was awful, but likely due to being such a large and remote site- 5G was alright in the right spots.

Local attractions

As well as having top-notch facilities, Skelwith Fold Caravan Park is in a top-notch location for a Lake District break. There are lots of great walks and activities nearby, and staff are always on hand to dish out ideas and tips to help you make the best of it all. Of course you’ll want to see some lakes – perhaps starting with Tarn Hows (15 minutes' drive) before moving on to a steam boat ride on Coniston Water (20 minutes) and a tour of Rydal Water (15 minutes), taking in Rydal Cave and Rydal Mount and Gardens along the way. The big one, of course, is Windermere, just a few minutes' drive from the park and with boat trips available from Ambleside (10 minutes). Around the lake there are various attractions to stop off at, including the National Trust sites at Wray (10 minutes) and Hill Top (20 minutes). If you've got the kids, look instead to places like the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction (20 minutes) and Lakeland Farm Visitor Centre (25 minutes).
