Broadleaf Forest Adventures: The stunning view from one of the fields we journey through to the Wild Canvas Woodland.

General

  • Off-grid site in a secluded corner of rural Cheshire
  • A 20-minute drive to the edge of the Peak District; 10 to Congleton
  • Eco retreat with campfire areas; breakfast available

Broadleaf Forest Adventures is a peaceful spot in rural Cheshire where you can drift away to a time before email, smartphones and electric light. This off-grid site is a proper walkers' paradise – set in an untouched woodland where there's plenty of scope for roaming, Broadleaf Forest Adventures is also a mere 20-minute drive from the edge of the Peak District National Park.

Having packed a tent and a pair of walking boots, you may well be wondering about other items to bring along. Start off with a trusty torch – this off-grid site has no lighting (aside from the stars and any campfires you've built among the trees). Handy hands-free head torches are also available to hire on site; bundles of logs and kindling are also for sale. The friendly staff can also sort you out with a breakfast hamper and are able to accommodate a wide range of dietary requirements.

In terms of practicalities, this site has a back to basics composting loo and a shared kitchen space. To help maintain peaceful vibes in the woods and keep the critters that live there happy, all cars are parked a short walk away; the site staff will greet you when you arrive and help carry your stuff through the field that leads to the pitches.

If you do need to make the odd trip back to civilisation, Congleton (10 minutes' drive) is a rather pleasant place to do it. Here there are supermarkets and restaurants, as well as local attractions like a museum, watersports centre and golf course.

Please note

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Continental touring caravans (caravans built with the door on the right-hand side) are not permitted.

Bookings must not consist of more than 6 different households.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Guests must bring their own duvets, pillows, sheets and towels when staying in rental accommodation. You will not be allowed to stay if you do not bring these items.

Onsite entertainment will not be offered due to restrictions imposed by the coronavirus outbreak.

Owing to government regulations, groups of 10 or more people are not permitted.

At least one of the party members must be aged 21 or over.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Minimum spacing of 15 metres between pitches.

Everything!!! The site is very secluded and private. It's small so not too many other people at any time, but we were extra lucky and had it to ourselves.
The setup is really nice, each pitch has its own circle of log stumps around a fire pit. The ground is nice and flat and tent pegs go in easily. There is a central fire pit with a roof in case of rain, an ingenious cooking and dishwashing area, and a brilliant mud kitchen for kids!
We ordered a log basket which was waiting for us in the log store by the kitchen area.
We also ordered a breakfast hamper and were not disappointed!! There was more food than two of us could possibly eat, including really fresh eggs. I am a vegetarian but my partner is a meat eater and the breakfast provided plenty of choice for both of us. Well worth it!
Best of all was the beautiful woodland setting, with bluebells and wild garlic in bloom all round the site, birdsong from so many different birds, and a pair of squirrels playing up and down a tree!

    Disliked:

    Nothing.
This site does involve a walk from the car park across two fields to reach the pitch. However we felt that this added to the special feeling of being right away in nature. If you have more camping gear than you can easily carry, it's not a problem, as the owners provide a little cart to pull it in.

The staff were brilliant in providing videos to get us to the forest, as a sat nav wouldn’t have taken us to the right place. They were clear & accurate!
The cabin was perfect for our family! We went for my sons 6th birthday, and I have 3x children all under 6, and we had a brilliant time!! There was lots to explore! My children loved the experience and we loved how relaxed and stress free the stay was. We had plenty of water and logs for our stay, we couldn’t recommend it enough ! It was a brilliant experience for us all !

The site was lovely and peaceful. Even the bad weather didn't ruin it, as there was a shelter, bonus.
I would 100% recommend staying here to anyone who's s looking for a few days to totally get away from the stresses of daily life. Breakfast hamper and smores kits were a great touch.
    We'll definitely be back.

    Disliked:

The walk to the sight was not that far, but it seems further when your transporting your gear. There is a trolley so that's great, but still very hard work to pull it.
