General

  • Peaceful, small glamping site in the pretty village of Norland
  • A five-minute drive to Sowerby Bridge; 15 minutes to Shibden Hall
  • Firepit provided; breakfast and afternoon tea available to order

Hob Hey Hideaways is a pop-up glamping site in the pretty West Yorkshire village of Norland, with gorgeous rural views all around in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and lots of lovely hill and moorland walks nearby (plus bike routes used for the Tour de Yorkshire, if that’s more your thing…)

If you’re not up for such leg-busting outings, you’ll be pleased to hear that you can instead opt to stroll to the local village in about 10 minutes for a kids’ park or a pub. A firepit is provided at your tent and you'll have access to a gas barbecue and outdoor eating area too, so it’s a fine idea to stop by at the farm shop a couple of miles away where you can buy locally sourced produce for your grill (put in a pre-order and they can sort out a breakfast pack if you like). Sowerby Bridge (a mile away) has a couple of decent supermarkets for any other bits you need, and there are more shops 10 minutes away in Halifax.

The setup on site is a rather special one: there are just a couple of smart bell tents here, so you’ll get a good deal of space and peace as well as a comfy bed and boho furnishings. Access to fresh water and a smart toilet/shower facility are nearby, and there’s a kitchen cabin that houses a fridge, a freezer, a microwave and a washing-up area. You’ll have complimentary tea and coffee, and, in a rather lovely touch, a bottle of fizz provided in your welcome pack.

The friendly owner is around on site daily to offer tips and advice; there’s no electric connection here but phone charging is available on request too.

Special occasion? Send a note in the special requests box to order a farmhouse breakfast delivery or a splendid afternoon tea (for an extra cost).

Lovely weekend at hob hey hideaways, best glamping set up I have seen, we were able to turn up with just clothes and food and everything we needed was there ready for us. The cubby kitchen is a very luxurious addition, to have an electric hob, toaster and kettle and a fridge was great. If you want authentic camping though, the one ring burner and camping kettle outside the tent enable you to make your morning cuppa, listening for the kettle whistle with an incredible view. Jo has thought of everything and has added lots of little touches such as biscuits on the pillows, solar powered fairy lights, bedside lamp and gorgeous smelling toiletries and diffusers to ensure the camping facilities stayed smelling fresh! Our children loved the freedom and fresh air, no screens for the whole weekend, and the bonus was a yummy carvery at the Hobbit pub down the road. We will definitely be back.

    Disliked:

Close proximity and shared facilities with second tent only a problem if neighbours are noisy or dont clean up after themselves. Otherwise nice to make friends with other families and children can play together.

From the manager...

Thank you for your wonderful review. I am so pleased that you had a great stay and mentioned returning next year to me. I will pitch the tents further apart next season. I am sorry if the neighbours were untidy and hope my cleaning made up for it. Thank you Jo

Such a brilliant little site, run so kindly and efficiently by the lovely Jo.
Location is amazing, with wonderful views over the valley and of Sowerby Bridge, and an amazing sunset.
The bell tents are wonderful. Spacious and impeccably equipped. Having access to a fridge and freezer, as well as a hot shower and beautifully maintained loo made camping a breeze.
You're in striking distance of such wonderful places too - we headed to Hebden Bridge and had the most beautiful walk up at Hardcastle Crags. You could even head to the coast to Bridlington or Formby.

Jo runs the site with a clear and obvious passion and desire for you to have a lovely time, and that's priceless in a host. Thank you for a smashing weekend!

I stayed at Hob Hey Hideaway with my three children and miniature dachshund while my Campervan was being repaired.

I was met by Jo‘s father on arrival who was amazing, he helped us as settle in an was very hospitable as we didn’t have transport to get supplies. Jo and her family are lovely people.

The tent and furnishings were beautiful, high quality and lots of nice finishing touches. The kids loved the games and the games box. The toilet and shower facilities are great and impeccably clean.

We ordered breakfast boxes and a s’mores box. These were absolutely fantastic quality and great value for money. Jo goes out of her way to add special touches and it shows.

The scenery of the dales is beautiful and peaceful, there is plenty space and the sunsets are spectacular.

This is a very special place and worth every penny.
