Peace and Tranquility in The Hideaway Hut July 2025

  • Small, peaceful site in the pretty village of Norland
  • A five-minute drive to Sowerby Bridge; 15 minutes to Shibden Hall
  • Cubby kitchen and an honesty shop on site
Hob Hey Hideaways is a small site in the pretty West Yorkshire village of Norland near Sowerby Bridge, with gorgeous rural views all around and lovely moorland walks nearby. The site has been carefully set up for a restful break in the countryside away from everyday trappings… and within walking distance, there is a kids' playground and a golf course. The set-up on site includes access to fresh drinking water and a smart toilet and shower. There’s a cubby kitchen which has a hob, kettle, toaster, fridge and freezer, as well as an honesty shop. The friendly owner is around on site daily to offer tips and advice; there’s no electric connection here but phone charging is available on request too. Guests are welcome to use the gas barbecues on site, as long as conditions are safe. Special occasion? Send a note in the special requests box to order a farmhouse breakfast delivery (for an extra cost).

Hob Hey Hideaways: serene glamping with amazing views. Jo's hospitality is top-notch, with thoughtful touches and cozy, clean accommodations. Most reviews are stellar, though one noted tricky road access and a closed pub. Perfect for a quiet escape.

The Hideaway Hut 2 bedroom shepherd's hut

Liked Well equipped , nice little extras , good views , good communication with host who was very helpful 😀

Disliked Road access quite tricky, incorrect information regarding nearest pub , the pub 0.2km away was permanently closed which was disappointing and impacted our evening plans this making it quite isolated!

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback.

I’m sorry to hear that your evening plans were affected by the closure of the local pub. Unfortunately, as an independent glamping site, I have no control over local businesses opening hours or closures. Had I known this was impacting your stay, I would have been more than happy to recommend alternative pubs, restaurants and places to eat nearby. We are fortunate to have several wonderful options in the area, and I regularly recommend places such as The Fleece and The Old Bridge to guests.

I also appreciate that the lack of WiFi may not suit everyone. However, Hob Hey Hideaways is intentionally advertised as a WiFi-free retreat, as many guests choose us specifically for the opportunity to enjoy a digital detox, switch off and reconnect with nature.

I always aim to communicate well with guests before arrival and throughout their stay, even if I am unable to meet them in person and to provide helpful local information wherever I can. However, I wasn’t aware that you were struggling to find an alternative venue, and I didn’t receive any requests for recommendations during your stay. I would have been delighted to help had I been given the opportunity.

With regards to road access, Hob Hey Hideaways is situated in a rural countryside setting as described and the approach roads are typical of the area. Many guests enjoy the feeling of escaping from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, although I completely understand that this may not be to everyone’s taste.

As a small independent business, I invest a great deal of time, care and passion into creating a peaceful and memorable experience for my guests. I genuinely want every visitor to have a wonderful stay, and I am always happy to help wherever possible. For that reason, I much prefer guests to contact me during their visit so that I have the opportunity to assist with any concerns at the time.

Thank you for choosing Hob Hey Hideaways. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and wish you all the very best for the future.

Warm regards,

Jo

Deb’s Den bell tent (four person)

Liked The view was absolutely stunning, and I really appreciated the pre-arrival video showing where everything was and what to expect, it made finding the site and settling in so easy.

I loved that it's a small, peaceful site, so you really feel like you're away from the world, even with other guests staying nearby. The personal touches made a big difference too, from the complimentary Prosecco, tea and coffee to the plates, utensils, and even a gas stove. Everything had been thoughtfully provided, making the stay comfortable and relaxing from the moment we arrived.

Disliked Nothing.

Sonella’s Slumber bell tent (four person)

Liked Fabulous stay at Hob Hey Hideaways, Jo is a very attentive host and made us very welcome - Tent was very comfortable and prosecco and biscuits went down a treat. Extremely clean toilet, shower and kitchen areas with lots of little extras available, even a little tuck shop. Great views and peace and quiet, apart from birds and sheep ! Would highly recommend a stay to get away from everything, great that you can do one night. We will definitely be back

From the manager: Im glad you had a lovely stay Craig I’m sorry it wasn’t a 10 for you
Do let me know if there was something you felt needed improving. I don’t really advertise as a site with activities as it’s more of an escape and switch off from everyday trappings glamping experiences
But thank you for your feedback.
