  • Simple and dog-friendly Suffolk site 15 minutes' drive from Newmarket
  • Thetford Forest 15 minutes' drive; 40 minutes to Cambridge
  • Three fishing lakes on site, with both day and night fishing available
Get that ‘gone fishing’ sign ready – because when you stay at Jeagor Park Lakes you’ll be in a place with three fabulous lakes on site, and opportunities for guests to go fishing by day and night. If you’re keen on angling, this is the place to be, trying your luck with the carp, tench, bream, rudd and other species that fill the site’s waters. Children and beginners are welcome, with a groundsman always on site to offer tips and give you a hand if needed. More experienced anglers can sometimes join in with the regular matches held here too. Not into fishing? Don’t worry – this Suffolk site is also just a lovely place to chill out for a few days, relaxing in the well-kept pitching fields, watching the planes going in and out of nearby RAF Mildenhall and enjoying the gorgeous sunsets that often appear in the big skies overhead. You’ll be close to some fabulous walks in Thetford Forest, great birdwatching in RSPB Lakenheath Fen and all sorts of other days out including trips to Ely or Cambridge. Families, couples, groups, solo travellers, dog owners – all are welcome at this laidback location, and barbecues or campfires are welcome as long as you respect other guests. Simple facilities include well-kept toilets, showers, a chemical disposal point and drinking water supplies. Mildenhall and Beck Row are both just a couple of miles away for shops and places to eat, and Newmarket is about 15 minutes’ drive away for more town amenities (and a famous racecourse).

What customers say

This is a developing site with friendly and helpful staff. Visitors praise the clean toilets, spacious pitches, and beautiful fishing lakes. Many appreciate the value for money and quiet atmosphere. Some note the absence of showers, though this is being addressed with new facilities under construction. Occasional noise from a nearby airfield is mentioned, and some would like more bins and clearer signage. Overall, it's considered a good site with potential for future improvements.

Electric grass and earth tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Amazing, clean relaxing camp site. Perfect for my son as he is plane mad so being at the top of the runway was brilliant for him. Fresh water at each pitch, toilets where very clean and shower cubical clean with new decking being put on. Also a washing up station is a bonus.

Disliked Nothing

Electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked The new toilet shower facilities. Looks like the owners are investing money into the site which will be good in time.

Disliked Pitches a bit close . A very dusty ground which i know is a due to a very hot dry summer but hopefully a tarmaced driveway would be good in future. The fishing lakes are crowded with families camping so not quite and relaxing as it should be . Again improvements are being made around the site and lakes so hopefully the future looks promising.

Non-electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked We really enjoyed our stay here. The site is relatively newly opened and looks to be improving everyday. The staff were super friendly and very approachable.
Despite very dry and sandy conditions they did a great job of keeping everything clean.

We enjoyed some nice walks direct from the site and will definitely be returning soon.

Liked Very affordable camping. Turn up and choose your own pitch, friendly peaceful campers in the field , had a little chat with a lovely guy who came to take he's boys camping.

Nice simple facilities, clean toilets

Disliked Showers unfortunately briefly out of use, but the owner worked flat out to get them working again to her credit.

Electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked Spacious pitch, with water on every pitch.

Disliked Inadequate toilets and recently installed showers which didn’t work until our last evening. The boy couple of small footpaths to walk with dog.

From the manager: Hello, we're sorry you didnt enjoy your stay.
Our showers are new and hadn't been plumbed in but we opened them as a lot of campers wanted a cold shower during the heat wave to cool off- these are now all plumbed in with hot running water.
The washing up station has got hot water also, so you would have been able to get some if you needed it.
Unfortunately you’ve come to visit on our first summer and we didn't realise how busy we was going to be- new bins arrived last week and are now in situ for the campers as the 2 big bins we had wasnt enough.
There is a waste disposal area available on site and its labelled- did you speak to a member of staff to find this out?

Electric grass and earth tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Absolutely great spot, exactly what we needed.
Everyone so so helpful, couldn't fault any staff - Absolutely wonderful.
Bless them they were having teething problems with the new shower unit, but we're working flat put to try and get it fixed

Well maintained fishing lakes, we only spent an hr on the lakes...But was a lovely setting, with a super crowd / Family feel

Overall super!

Disliked Planes all the time! But then you are next to 3 RAF bases! So you just have to embrace or take ear plugs! I did both!!

Local attractions

Away from the fishing lakes, perhaps you'd like to go for a walk in Thetford Forest (15 minutes’ drive), where a wonderful network of trails criss-crosses the 45,000 acres of woodland. The forest also has a Go Ape course, archery and adventure golf, and it hosts regular events including a summer series of pop concerts. For more outdoor time, take your binoculars to RSPB Lakenheath Fen (15 minutes) for some birdwatching, step back in time at West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village (15 minutes) or stroll around the grand country estate at Ickworth House (half an hour). You might also fancy a day at the races in Newmarket (15 minutes), where you can also visit the National Horseracing Museum. A little further afield, there’s a lot to explore in Bury St Edmunds and Ely (half an hour), or you could spend a day dipping into all the colleges of Cambridge (40 minutes), perhaps stopping by at a museum along the way or trying your hand at punting along the river.
