  • Simple and dog-friendly Suffolk site 15 minutes' drive from Newmarket
  • Thetford Forest 15 minutes' drive; 40 minutes to Cambridge
  • Three fishing lakes on site, with both day and night fishing available
Get that ‘gone fishing’ sign ready – because when you stay at Jeagor Park Lakes you’ll be in a place with three fabulous lakes on site, and opportunities for guests to go fishing by day and night. If you’re keen on angling, this is the place to be, trying your luck with the carp, tench, bream, rudd and other species that fill the site’s waters. Children and beginners are welcome, with a groundsman always on site to offer tips and give you a hand if needed. More experienced anglers can sometimes join in with the regular matches held here too. Not into fishing? Don’t worry – this Suffolk site is also just a lovely place to chill out for a few days, relaxing in the well-kept pitching fields, watching the planes going in and out of nearby RAF Mildenhall and enjoying the gorgeous sunsets that often appear in the big skies overhead. You’ll be close to some fabulous walks in Thetford Forest, great birdwatching in RSPB Lakenheath Fen and all sorts of other days out including trips to Ely or Cambridge. Families, couples, groups, solo travellers, dog owners – all are welcome at this laidback location, and barbecues or campfires are welcome as long as you respect other guests. Simple facilities include well-kept toilets, showers, a chemical disposal point and drinking water supplies. Mildenhall and Beck Row are both just a couple of miles away for shops and places to eat, and Newmarket is about 15 minutes’ drive away for more town amenities (and a famous racecourse).

What customers say

Developing site with fishing & wildlife. Praised for friendly staff, clean loos & spacious pitches. Showers were being built in summer after initial reviews noted their absence. Some airfield noise. Great value.

Liked The peace and quiet ( apart from the RAF jets) but enjoyed watching the free air show! The fishing lakes were beautiful and well kept. Toilets wers nice and clean. Just a shame that it was so hot and wasnt any shelter where our campervan was parked. But all in all, a lovely camp site and plenty of space where we were pitched. No showers but i understand the owners are adding some in the future which will be great

Disliked Nothing to dislike

Liked The staff are super friendly and really helpful. The site itself is very well maintained. Toilets are clean and we saw the shower blocks delivered this week.
If you’re an aviation fan and/or a fishing fan. This site is perfect! The lakes are very well kept with loads of room.
Cannot fault the site at all. Will definitely be back ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Liked It was fine for a night for us. I thought we’d be able to park closer to the pond from the ad. But they could have been just me. No shade at all. The geese were lovely.

Disliked No shade

From the manager: Hello, we’re really sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay. You could have camped up at the waters edge if that was what you were looking for. Had you mentioned this it could have been arranged for you. Can I ask why you only rated our cleanliness a 4? Obviously we’re a new site and improving every day so would be great to know what you didn’t find clean to use.

Perfect for our needs, and excellent value for money

Unpowered grass and earth caravan site

Liked Excellent value for money, good quiet site with plenty of space. Only stayed one night at the weekend, not sure how quiet it is during the week if planes are flying. More sites like this are needed in this country 😊

Disliked I suspect that due to the recent droughts, the ground is quite sparse and sandy with thistles and a few nettles trying to grow on the non electric area, it’s not a problem just an observation.

Unpowered grass and earth caravan site

Liked One of the best campsites I've ever stayed in after a year and a half of travelling! Brilliant self-check-in, great phone signal, and exceptionally clean toilets considering they've only been open for six weeks. At just £15 a night, it is incredible value.

Disliked No showers yet, but I knew that beforehand, and the owners mentioned they are getting them fitted. Honestly, no real dislikes at all—loved staying here!

Local attractions

Away from the fishing lakes, perhaps you'd like to go for a walk in Thetford Forest (15 minutes’ drive), where a wonderful network of trails criss-crosses the 45,000 acres of woodland. The forest also has a Go Ape course, archery and adventure golf, and it hosts regular events including a summer series of pop concerts. For more outdoor time, take your binoculars to RSPB Lakenheath Fen (15 minutes) for some birdwatching, step back in time at West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village (15 minutes) or stroll around the grand country estate at Ickworth House (half an hour). You might also fancy a day at the races in Newmarket (15 minutes), where you can also visit the National Horseracing Museum. A little further afield, there’s a lot to explore in Bury St Edmunds and Ely (half an hour), or you could spend a day dipping into all the colleges of Cambridge (40 minutes), perhaps stopping by at a museum along the way or trying your hand at punting along the river.
