Non-electric grass pitch

Liked A lovely big area that you have to chose from for your stay. We had a none electric pitch and it was flat. Very pleasant location, with access directly into the forest.

Disliked Whilst there are 2 toilets and 2 showers in the field we stayed in, they are unisex and there was always some waiting at busier times ( before bed / first thing ). There is another facilities block but that was right down the other end of the site. The light sensors are also on the outside of the toilet door and the lights went off during toilet usage at night. Not a pleasant experience trying to wipe and flush in the pitch black! The pot wash area is also directly on a toilet wall so you could hear people using the facilities due to the lack of fully enclosed cubicles.

Wee Pea camping pod

Liked The site is immaculately kept, all facilities are spotless and frequently cleaned. Pitches, pods and lodges all well appointed. Peaceful site, spacious pitches, woodland walks on your doorstep, across the road is a lovely nature reserve with lake walks, a cafe and plenty of activities for kids. The owners were so helpful when there was a glitch on the system with our booking, they immediately fixed the problem and were so kind and friendly. Would definitely recommend and we will visit again. Leila and Richard

Electric grass pitch

Liked This is probably the nicest site we have ever stayed at. The layout is very well thought out and all the facilities are built to a very high standard, there is even a dog shower. It is beautifully landscaped and the pitches are enormous. We chose the site for its close proximity to the forest for dog walking and mountain biking and it was perfectly placed for both those pursuits. It would also suit horse riders as there is an area to accommodate them.

Disliked The only slight niggle was there was no drop point for the grey water, only a drain for grey water in portable containers.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Location in no particular order
sunrise, sunset, tranquility, friendly new toilets and showers, wildlife, forest, dog friendly, friendly efficient check in, cost, cafe across road I. Anglo Saxon village with lakes and walks.

Disliked Groups of young men chatting etc into the early hours but I am an early riser so I’m sure that was inconvenient to them !

Electric grass pitch

Liked Nice lady.
Location.
Good facilities. Clean and well maintained.
Recommended to people I know who have horses.

Disliked Adults only sites are normally quiet.
Peaceful and just have couples who appreciate the quiet and enjoy the peace where no one bothers you and you can just chill.
Unfortunately at the weekend there was a group who turned up. Where the Adults behaved like children.
Swingball constantly banging.
There a football match.
I've NEVER Experienced this on any Adults only site before.

From the manager: HI there, thank you for taking the time to give us a review for your stay.

We are well known for being a peaceful and tranquil site with many returning guests. I was aware of the swing ball but didn't see anyone play it and was not aware of foot ball being played at anytime, it was a very busy weekend. Had I been made aware and the upset this was causing they would have been asked to immediately stop.

I can only apologise for this situation and I am sorry that you did not get to enjoy the peacefulness that Wideham offers with the caravan park.

I hope that you would give us another try sometime in the future.
Kind regards
Jane

Local attractions

A walk away, West Stow Country Park is a top spot for Suffolk strolls and rides, with a pair of hides for birdwatching and whole platoons of wildlife gathering on the lake and along the River Lark. As an added bonus, there’s a reconstructed Anglo-Saxon village where you can see how life was way back in the Dark Ages. The ancient market town of Bury St Edmunds is 10 minutes’ drive away if you’re minded to continue the historical theme: medieval Moyse’s Hall is home to a fab museum, while Ickworth House, built in neoclassical style for the earls of Bristol, is a splendid country house. After that, head on to the half-timbered, brightly hued cottages of Lavenham, half an hour away. There’s wildlife aplenty around here too, and trails to spot it at Cavenham Heath National Nature Reserve (15 minutes): blue tits and woodpeckers are often seen in the woods, while on the heath, lizards, adders and stone curlews flit around the remains of World War II defences. More exotic residents can be met at Banham Zoo (40 minutes), from Bactrian camels to silvery marmosets and gelada baboons, and seals can sometimes be spotted from the cliffs and beach at Felixstowe, an hour away. Even without glimpses of its whiskered marine mammals, the seaside town makes a top day trip, with beach walks, harbour cruises and tours of 18th-century Landguard Fort finished off with fish and chips.
