  • Simple and dog-friendly Suffolk site 15 minutes' drive from Newmarket
  • Thetford Forest 15 minutes' drive; 40 minutes to Cambridge
  • Three fishing lakes on site, with both day and night fishing available
Get that ‘gone fishing’ sign ready – because when you stay at Jeagor Park Lakes you’ll be in a place with three fabulous lakes on site, and opportunities for guests to go fishing by day and night. If you’re keen on angling, this is the place to be, trying your luck with the carp, tench, bream, rudd and other species that fill the site’s waters. Children and beginners are welcome, with a groundsman always on site to offer tips and give you a hand if needed. More experienced anglers can sometimes join in with the regular matches held here too. Not into fishing? Don’t worry – this Suffolk site is also just a lovely place to chill out for a few days, relaxing in the well-kept pitching fields, watching the planes going in and out of nearby RAF Mildenhall and enjoying the gorgeous sunsets that often appear in the big skies overhead. You’ll be close to some fabulous walks in Thetford Forest, great birdwatching in RSPB Lakenheath Fen and all sorts of other days out including trips to Ely or Cambridge. Families, couples, groups, solo travellers, dog owners – all are welcome at this laidback location, and barbecues or campfires are welcome as long as you respect other guests. Simple facilities include well-kept toilets, showers, a chemical disposal point and drinking water supplies. Mildenhall and Beck Row are both just a couple of miles away for shops and places to eat, and Newmarket is about 15 minutes’ drive away for more town amenities (and a famous racecourse).

What customers say

This is a developing campsite with friendly and helpful staff, appreciated for their responsiveness. Visitors praise the clean toilet facilities and the attractive fishing lakes, with many enjoying the peace and quiet. Pitches are described as flat and spacious, with water and electricity hook-ups. Some guests enjoyed plane spotting due to the proximity of RAF bases, though this could be noisy. Ongoing development includes new shower blocks, which have received positive feedback once operational, though some initial teething issues were noted. Ground conditions can become boggy after rain, and lack of shade was mentioned during hot weather.

Electric grass and earth tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The location, was a well laid out site and good value for money.

Disliked Not the sites fault but..... only 2 showers on a bank holiday weekend and the plumbing couldn't cope. Also I would strongly recommend installing lockable toilet roll holders as replenished rolls seemed to disappear very quickly

Non-electric grass and earth tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Nice site and friendly owners etc with fishing

Disliked Toilets although cleaned regularly kept braking or leaking etc and showers never had hot water. But they have only just taken on the business so these are teething problems

Electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked Plenty of room to manoeuvre the caravan into the park and onto the pitch. Liked that we had our own water tap alongside the electric hook up. Also close to Mildenhall airbase, so we could see the planes take off.

Disliked Although the ground was described as earth and grass, it was more like compacted sand. Which was not a problem when we arrived, as it was dry. However after a night of heavy rain, it became really boggy, held a lot of water resulting in big puddles, and people were getting their cars stuck.

Electric grass and earth tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Lovely quiet site which is clearly still developing. New toilets and showers which were immaculate and cleaned each afternoon. We initially book for two nights but ended up extending our stay! You can watch the jets flying over at regular frequency’s and you are close to spectator zones for both Lakenheath and Mildenhall. The site has three lakes onsite which we enjoyed walking around each evening. We did fish for one afternoon but had no success.
In close proximity we visited the Mildenhall hub for swimming which was immaculate. Thetford forest and West Stow Anglo Saxon village.
The site is still developing and I look forward to returning for short breaks away, hopefully being able to have a campfire and seeing the sites progress.

Disliked One shower was slow to drain and easily flooded across the floor.
You rarely see people on-site the number provided on pitch up goes straight to voicemail.
When fishing there was a large family who were regularly fighting whilst packing up which seemed to take hours. The language they used was discussing with my son (6) asking what they mean. Again there was no one around to report this too. (This isn’t a reflection on the camping area as this is set away from the lakes).

Local attractions

Away from the fishing lakes, perhaps you'd like to go for a walk in Thetford Forest (15 minutes’ drive), where a wonderful network of trails criss-crosses the 45,000 acres of woodland. The forest also has a Go Ape course, archery and adventure golf, and it hosts regular events including a summer series of pop concerts. For more outdoor time, take your binoculars to RSPB Lakenheath Fen (15 minutes) for some birdwatching, step back in time at West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village (15 minutes) or stroll around the grand country estate at Ickworth House (half an hour). You might also fancy a day at the races in Newmarket (15 minutes), where you can also visit the National Horseracing Museum. A little further afield, there’s a lot to explore in Bury St Edmunds and Ely (half an hour), or you could spend a day dipping into all the colleges of Cambridge (40 minutes), perhaps stopping by at a museum along the way or trying your hand at punting along the river.
