Pentney Country Club: Generous-sized grass and gravel pitch

General

  • Well-maintained touring park half a mile from the A47
  • A 20-minute drive from King's Lynn and 30 from Hunstanton
  • Family-friendly site with level and spacious pitches; dogs welcome

If you’re in the mood for a touring site that will let you take up residence for a little while in the quiet countryside with historic houses, beaches and a lavender farm around, Pentney Country Club is such a spot. A well-maintained touring site in western Norfolk half a mile to the south of the A47 road, this place is within easy reach of prime seaside spots like King's Lynn (20 minutes’ drive) and Hunstanton (half an hour).

With a rural base, this calm site will have you well-set to explore all of the many attractions that Norfolk has to offer. And for the little daily things, the family-friendly place has good facilities including well-maintained toilets and showers, with a chemical disposal point and recycling facilities available too.

Caravans and motorhomes will have no difficulty moving around the site, as all pitches are spacious with plenty of room for manoeuvring. (They also have enough room for an awning or pup tent.) Well-behaved dogs are very welcome at Pentney Country Club, good news for those of you who don’t want to leave your key family member behind.

Thanks to the central location, one of your first tasks will likely be working out where to go first. First of all, there's the fantastic coastline, with everything from traditional seaside resorts and outstanding wildlife havens. There's also excellent food, whether you're in the mood for a hot meal at a local pub (the nearest is a five-minute drive away), fresh Cromer crab or an ice cream on the seafront.

We didn't mind, music loud from country club, ok in a caravan but may keep young children up in tents.

Stayed here for the bank holiday weekend, there were plenty of room for our tent, site is not crowded at all, picked a pitch we liked. Hunstanton beach was 35 mins drive from site. Facilities were good, toilet and shower blocks at the front, large skip for rubbish and a washing up room. There was another toilet block at the end which was great as we didn't have to go far at night. All were cleaned every morning, soap, toilet rolls and hand sanitiser were provided. Quiet, pieceful location, a country club restaurant on site, great meal prices. Entertainment every Saturday night, there were lots of cars there, it was not just for people from camping site, some entrance fee applied (we missed it but would love to try next year). Kids found play mates fortunatelly, which I was really happy about. Ladies who came to clean toilets were really nice and polite. There was no rush to leave last day, officially it's 9 am but we were packing until 12 and it was absolutely fine.

    Disliked:

Lawn was nicely cut but the grass was not collected and it was wet in the mornings so it made our tent really messy. Fortunatelly we had a dustpan and brush. The country club restaurant was only open on Saturday and there was no opening times at the door and we didn't find it online. One of the two showers in the ladies had a very low water pressure and when both showers were used at the same time the water was dripping only making it difficult to wash the soap off my body.

It was so relaxed and it’s tucked out of the way so stays reasonably quiet. Facilities were clean and modern. There is a social club that has live entertainment and sells food throughout the day, we didn’t get chance to try it out but definitely will next time!

The toilets were clean and kept that way through out the stay it’s very quiet and is just a field really pitches are really big and plenty of space and in the middle of nowhere if your looking for something like that then it’s great

    Disliked:

Disliked the fact there is nothing there not even a small shop selling bits and when they have so much space it’s a shame not to do this . Also they have a club on site but to use this u have to pay an extra £7 per person which I believe is wrong once u have paid for camping up on entering was made to feel unwelcome it’s very much for locals than people camping. There’s also no information anywhere like leaflets and things explaining what there is to do or where the nearest shop is I understand this is only a small point but think it would make for a more welcoming stay also didn’t meet one member of staff the whole stay no one to check we were ok or anyone for us to go to to ask questions other than a number to ring as you drive in . For £25 a night I thought this could be better
