General

  • Dog-friendly farm site a mile from the centre of Wymondham
  • A 20-minute drive from Norwich; half an hour from the Norfolk Broads
  • Café, small farm shop, dog groomer and alpaca walks on site

Walnut Tree Meadow Camping is a rural Norfolk site around five minutes’ drive from the centre of Wymondham and 20 minutes from Norwich (with easy access via the nearby A11).

There’s much to appreciate at this relaxed getaway spot, especially for folk travelling with a dog. As it’s in the grounds of a canine business, the facilities for canines on hols are particularly fine: book your four-legged pal in for a spot of pampering with the resident groomer or join one of the numerous classes available (dog first aid, agility sessions and canine massage are often among the offerings). For walkies, you can either book a session on the two-acre fully-fenced dog walking meadow or hit the local footpaths for a country stroll.

Bringing a dog isn’t compulsory, and there are plenty of other creatures to get to know on site: take an alpaca for a walk, make friends with pygmy goats and feed chickens (or lambs if you’re here at the right time…) Once you’ve met the whole gang, sit back and get set for one of the stunning sunsets that often dazzle guests here.

Facilities on site include a café (dog-friendly, of course), a hot water washing-up area and a fridge-freezer. Picnic benches, charcoal barbecue and firepits are available (first come, first served), and you can buy charcoal and firewood on site. Pitches have no boundaries, so lay claim to as much space as you wish; wherever you pick, you’ll have access to a large hot shower and indoor toilet facilities. Free-range eggs and local honey are sold in the café for a tasty breakfast.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Single-sex bookings of 6 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

There were only a few other staying which meant it wasn’t too load or hectic, the staff are very helpful and there is a shes with a fridge freezer in and electric sockets which made life easier! Toilet and shower cubicle was spotless! Will definitely return and would highly recommend.

Large field, with lots of space. My son loved the firepit, there were some to borrow, and wood and charcoal to buy. Small cafe where we had a very nice piece of lemon drizzle cake. Walks around the fields, very peaceful, some animals to see, alpacas and goats. We visited the coast and Thetford forest, both of which were easy to get to from the campsite.

    Disliked:

The campsite was lovely, greeted with a warm welcome.

The pitches were wide apart and quiet, the shower, toilets and washing up area were lovely and clean.

A minimalist and relaxed site with all the comforts that you'd need, assuming you've packed yourself a good sleep mat.
My boys age 7 and 16 loved visiting the animals, with plenty of space to enjoy the space and fresh air.

We'll definitely be back. Thank you.

Lovely clean facilities, lovely spacious field and they definitely don't overbook! So nice to have space to set up in front of our tent and tents not crammed in. All staff we met were lovely and friendly and very welcoming to our dogs. Lovely walk around the farm which we did each evening with the dogs on leads. Sweet little cafe available where we had breakfast twice, reduced menu but reasonably priced and good food. We were really enjoying our stay until a family with several young kids pitched right behind us and didn't attempt to control their children. Unfortunately there is not someone around to make suggestions to campers/oversee as the children were hitting the goats with sticks and threw stones at the geese 😩. Otherwise everyone else on site very friendly! Would defo stay again, site itself is perfect, just a shame about the other family and would be good if someone was around to point out the behaviour.

    Nothing, site was lovely

From the manager...

Hi, sorry to hear that some children were being unkind to the animals, not something we would have liked to see.
However we are almost always on site and live in the farmhouse right next to the campsite so would be happy for you to knock on the door and let us know if anyone was not behaving appropriately.
We would have been very keen to 'have a word'.

Walnut Tree Meadow Camping is fantastic. The tent pitch area is large and grassy, and there are farm animals nearby that the children LOVED. There are 3 different walking trails you can go on straight from your camping site, which was wonderful. The toilet/shower facilities were clean and well-maintained. There's a small cafe on site (we didn't go in ourselves, but it looked very lovely!) where you can get scones, coffee, tea, etc - which is great if you forget to pack the coffee like I did. The people that live/work on this farm were super friendly and helpful. We had an overall great experience, and the kids already want to go back!

Thank you for your lovely review
I'm glad we have kept pitches down to four this year so we don't overwork the facilities
