  • Peaceful Norfolk site on the outskirts of Warham village
  • Five minutes’ drive to Wells-next-the-Sea; Holkham Beach 10 minutes
  • Dog-friendly pitches 20 minutes’ walk from a good local pub
Wondering where to take your next family break? Wonder no more; just book your pitch at North Norfolk’s Grove Farm Campsite, a small, quiet spot on the outskirts of the flint-built village of Warham. Low-key, peaceful and calm, the site is nevertheless handy for strolls to the local pub, dog walks in the Norfolk Coast National Landscape wetlands (10 minutes’ drive), days out on the beach (and harbour tours) at Wells-next-the-Sea (five minutes) and visits to stately homes or ancient forts. There is a bus stop just a short walk away, and the Wells & Walsingham Light Railway is less than five minutes’ walk away from the site. The two pitching fields have countryside views and are sheltered by mature trees. On sunny afternoons, red kites are often spotted soaring above the meadows, and in the evening, you may get lucky enough to catch a glimpse of deer grazing in the meadows. There are free-roaming chickens and a small number of cockerels on site, too. You may hear them crowing during your stay, particularly around sunrise – that's when you know you're in the countryside. There are firepits for hire (and logs for sale) on site. Barbecues are permitted for family meals, but if you’re looking to eat out, take a 20-minute stroll (mostly along a road) to the local pub to sample home-cooked pies, classic pub dishes and traditional Sunday roasts. There are also plenty of other eateries within a short drive of the site.

Silkie non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Loved the views! I pitched my little tent by the wooded area on the right hand side overlooking the field. It was simply gorgeous! Watched the sunrise and set and the moon appearing!
I liked the minimal facilities Grove farm had to offer..real basics a tap for fresh water ..and loos ! That's all I need for a singleton and one dog
Picnic table was handy to put my small single ringed gas cooker on..

Used the coop in Wells to stock up ..
Liked the attractions I wished to visit close by ..

Disliked Not sure about the loos .... very dark inside even during daytime..
Good instructions on how to use!

Well stocked with the necessities !

Silkie non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Easy to find, very spacious, soft ground to put the tent pegs in, beautiful views, surrounded by wildlife and easy to access in a car.

Disliked Cockerels. It was lovely to see all the free range chickens and chicks around the site but the cockerels were noisy. Needs good ear plugs and not be a light sleeper.

Bantam electric grass touring pitch

Liked Lovely peaceful natural surroundings.
Electricity. Compostable toilets. Waste disposal. Easy check in.
Loved the chickens and even the cockerel 😂

Disliked No showers but I knew that. Not the end of the world but would have stayed longer if showers available.

Silkie non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked This was a lovely little campsite- we could just turn up on our booked evening with no need to check in, and we could choose where to pitch our tent. It was a lovely space with picnic tables provided, some wooded areas and a view across the fields. There was wood provided for fires (though due to the drought the use of fires was temporarily suspended, which was very sensible!) The composting toilets were kept in a clean condition.

Disliked We were treated to an extremely early wake up call from the local cockerels, who started crowing loudly at 12:30am, and the hens were pretty loud too! It was great to have them around though, we just wished they would adhere to the quiet hours of 10pm-6am :-)

Bantam electric grass touring pitch

Liked This campsite is a truly hidden North Norfolk gem! The site owners are incredibly accommodating, welcoming and friendly.

The surroundings are simply magical, with the sunlight filtering through the trees against a beautiful backdrop of open wheat fields. There are chickens and ducks running free range. Even had a visit from Bella the Bracco Italiano. It’s wonderfully peaceful and feels like a real escape.

The pitches are very generous in size, with both electric and non-electric options available.

We absolutely loved our stay and can’t speak highly enough of this wonderful little site. We’ll definitely be back!

Silkie non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Only stayed for one night but would have liked to stay more. I backpack and have stayed at a lot of sites, this is in my top ten easily.

Lovely natural environment with woodlands that mimics as wild camping feel as much as a site can. Pitch areas are in loose bays rather than the traditional 'everyone round the edge' situation.

Slept with my tent partly open to hear the deer rummaging in the woodland and woke up to birds.

Minimal facilities, but has what you need with clean toilets, drinking water and bins. Amazing for a camping experience if you love the outdoors. The chickens were a nice bonus.

Silkie non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked My husband, our 1 year old and golden retriever camped here for 2 nights and it was just wonderful! Plenty of space between pitches and our son loved being able to wake up to the views of the fields and chickens. The compost toilets were well maintained and stocked with toilet roll and other items. We will definitely look to stay here again!

Bantam electric grass touring pitch

Liked Beautiful site, great communication from the owners

Disliked Location. This would of been fine if we had a caravan with a car, but the site was advertised as being 0.6 miles from wells. It is actually located quite a bit out of the way with access off a national speed limit country lane with out any pavements. I love walking so the distance wouldn't of bothered me if it wasn't for the high speed drivers passing us with nowhere for us to go. When walking a dog this is really uncomfortable and I would definitely not stop here if you have a buggy or wheelchair. The site and owners are is lovely it's purely just access to and from wells which would put me off staying here again

Silkie non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Beautiful location, the views were stunning. We received very detailed arrival instructions from the owners on the day which was really helpful. You could pick your own spot to pitch up (non electric only) and the site was clean - no litter or leftover mess from other visitors. Overall really easy and great value!

Disliked Anyone visiting should be pre-warned about the roosters!!! They started at 3.30am and were still going at 10.30am when we left. This really made for a challenging nights sleep ….but if you’re ok with the sounds of the countryside then you’ll be fine! The site also needs better/bigger signage from the road.

Local attractions

Warham Camp (five minutes’ drive) is a large, circular Iron Age fort built by the local Iceni tribe on the River Stiffkey. Archaeological excavations have yielded ancient artefacts including shards of Roman pottery. For somewhat more recent history, head to Binham Priory (10 minutes), the ruins of an 11th-century Benedictine monastery. Deer roam the parkland at Holkham Hall (15 minutes), a Palladian-style mansion built in the 1700s. Its exquisitely proportioned, elegant rooms include the colonnaded Marble Hall, with a domed ceiling inspired by Rome’s Pantheon. Check out the collection of landscape paintings and the library, then hire a rowing boat to explore the pretty lake. Seaside adventures await at Holkham Beach (10 minutes), an expansive stretch of sand backed by vegetation-covered dunes that provide shelter to nesting birds such as terns and oystercatchers. There are several hides in the nearby pine grove. For more birdwatching action, walk west to the salt marshes and mud flats of Scolt Head Island National Nature Reserve.
